I found the Muslims' denial of the crucifixion to be telling. It seems like they are actively trying to deny the validity of Christianity. They could have claimed that he was crucified but nondivine. Or they could have remained silent on the subject of crucifixion. But no.

I actually read two islamic commentaries that the person who was crucified was a double of Jesus...someone who looked like him. They tried and convicted Jesus but then pulled a switcheroo. Nice explanation!

Of course they try to deny the validity of Christianity, Mo's competing religion at the time.
