it is amazing to see how many schools are named after Wilson, many even in low income black communities, educating the very people he thought of as inferior.

WWHS was named shortly after his death—I imagine a lot schools got their names at that time. Huge portrait in the library dedicated by his widow. Remember that he was a somewhat tragic figure at his death—after his stroke and the American rejection of his League of Nations. When I went there, there was a grand total of one black kid—the school board kept moving the school’s attendance boundary as blacks started moving east.

I imagine it is minority-majority now, but which minority I couldn’t tell you.
