I see nothing but look good feel good saying the right thing to fit the moment politics here.
These governors have no power to stop the planes from landing or the buses from rolling in the ‘migrants’.
The GOP in Congress is trying to pass some legislation requiring ‘vetting’ or ‘background checks’ by the FBI but hey I hear Hillary saying the people from Syria need to be vetted.
Emotional politics designed to make business as usual politicians look good like those governors who caved on religious freedom in Arkansas (Asa Hutchinson) and Indiana (Mike Pence) earlier this year or Governor Nikki Haley of SC who thinks Confederate flags cause mass murder and so on.
See post #21.
CALL CONGRESS NOW: 202-224-3121
MESSAGE: We need to hear you loudly opposing bringing Syrian (and other) refugees into our communities.
Americans are through being suckers for foreigners who have no interest in contributing to our nation.
Besides killing us, their intent is to suckoff the backs of struggling taxpayers and gorge themselves at the welfare trough.
Very few women or children among them, but the Left sees no evidence of prejudice, unfairness, or warning signals in this.
Being a Democrat is an outright admission of mental illness.
My mother told me, “bad people will generally tell you what they will do to you. It’s up to you to believe them and take appropriate action.”
When Muslims tell you they believe in Sharia law they are saying they are okay with killing non-believers. That’s you.
Noted, but I do not think anyone here is even thinking of making such a leap. Now, maybe over at DU . . . but when did logic or truth ever get in the way of their political fishbowl agenda?
If anyone in a red state sees them being sneaked in they should report it to the police and their governors office.
As I told another FReeper, who had expressed sentiments similar to yours, this isn’t “small potatoes” - it is a temperature reading of the voters - and this will not be lost on the politicians (it also informs the low information voters who are so caught up by and lulled asleep by the lies of Obama).
Good point—will add to the contact message.
Its a way for Republican Establishment politicians to win votes and elections, not a way to stop terrorists from infiltrating our country in the guise of ‘refugees’.
The process goes forward in spite of this written and verbal show of opposition.
To stop it you need people standing in the way of their arrival or interdicting it in some manner.

“............The American people have no faith in President Obama’s government to get it right. The government has routinely failed to get things right. Press reports even suggest there was an intelligence failure within the American government that preceded the attacks in Paris.
Now we have members of Congress telling the world that the process within refugee camps of vetting refugees has broken down and is not really happening. Congressman Rep. Peter King of New York is just the latest to make that claim.
Nobody trusts Barack Obama to get it right, he has squandered all the good will available to him, and has so heavily engaged in partisan politics himself that partisans on the side opposite are no longer inclined to give their President the benefit of the doubt.
Thirty-one [32] governors are now rejecting Syrian refugees in their states. President Obama could have addressed the nation, calmed nerves, and quietly reached out and explained things. Instead, he took to the world stage to announce that there really is nothing we can do to stop ISIS and he’s not much inclined to change his strategy.
The only choice the American people have, given the above, is to turn their back on refugees because the American people cannot and do not trust that President Obama’s Administration is able to exercise sound judgment and discretion relating to who gets into our country.”
Please do not let the truth escape your notice that there are a majority of Republican governors and Republican state houses - put there by local and state Republicans and voters - who are, and will continue to, generate the growing number of conservatives being sent to the Hill.

My good old Maryland said no? Well God bless our Republican governor!
We were in MD for a couple of years - got there just in time to vote for Bob Ehrlich (and against a Kennedy). On our trip to tour the state house, the docent began the tour by APOLOGIZING to the tour group for the state electing a Republican, and we were elated that we had helped (this was on top of a workman on the steps outside who volunteered to us - pointing at the Gov's mansion - "I guess it will be called the Gov's mansion now, it was the people's house.").
And the ICC was finally built and traffic moved a bit better.
Well we have Governor Hogan now a good and pragmatic man.
For your information back in the 1960’s in the capital building here in Annapolis a display case held both Civil War flags from both Confederate and Union regiments, Marylanders having fought on both sides. Last time I took some friends through there they were gone. The docents claimed they had been sun damaged and put away. I told her that hiding history’s artifacts would not change history. Don’t think she got it.
Perhaps we should ship them all to Hawaii. While it would ruin a vacation spot, it would neatly contain the problem. Puerto Rico would be another appropriate destination.
LIBERALS have put themselves everywhere they can influence and rewrite history.
Meanwhile, the abhorrent f***tard in the Governor’s mansion in Richmond has announced Virginia will suck up as many stealth jihadis as Obama wants to shove at us.
FUTM!!
“Growing number of conservatives” in spite of the Republican Party since 95 percent of its elected officials aren’t.
In Arkansas and Indiana that must be 100 percent of their Republicans since the governors and legislators were unwilling to pass First Amendment religious freedom legislation to protect gay marriage objectors in their states.
Most of the Republicans in my Pennsylvania legislature are poised to raise the sales tax from 6 percent to 7.25 percent along with some property tax givebacks to extract 600 million dollars more at least from we the people.
How conservative of them/sarc.
There were nine members of Congress who voted against Paul Ryan, better than the five who voted against Boehner earlier this year.
