5 mins | Hanover game was canceled over ‘concrete’ intelligence, German official says

German interior minister Thomas de Maizière said at a press conference late on Tuesday that he recommended the cancellation of the football match between Germany and the Netherlands after receiving “concrete information” from security services. He said information has been coming in since the Paris attacks, but that the information regarding the match in Hanover had become so specific that a decision was made to call off the game. He refused to comment on the source and extent of the threat, saying that the release of information could cause some people to stop providing information.
