Thanks for your link. There was a thread on FR awhile ago about some new book. The book explained how Mohammad had been able to take over lots of other tribes and territories, but they all had their own cultures and religions, so keeping control of them was difficult.

So - Mohammad invented Islam as a way of governing/religion to get the people under his rule to think the same way so they could be kept under control.

The first 13 years of Islam, it was peaceful and had few converts. Then Mohammed became a violent conquering force and Islam grew by leaps and bounds!

Mohammed only converted a few hundred people when he talked about Allah. When he invaded, killed and raped and took slaves, he converted thousands. Islam is not a religion.
