{”If Trump gets elected, I suspect a lot of people around here will be sorely disappointed by him in the long run. He is no Conservative by any stretch of the imagination and would not govern as such.”}

Agree wholeheartedly.

It’s amazing that a conservative forum does not in large part embrace the conservatives in the race.

They think Trump is more electable, I believe, and are willing to overlook all else.

It's because Trump talks tough. They think because Trump talks louder and less like a regular politician that he's believable.

Personally I could give two bleeps about how one talks. I care about action. Trump donated to a traitor in John Kerry. He donated to Hillary. Cruz has the record. While no bet is 100% safe, I have a good idea what to expect from Cruz.

You are dead wrong. I don’t want to have to overlook someone weak on immigration, whether it’s increasing H1Bs or not using the ‘d’ word, which equals amnesty. I think it’s Cruz’s donors that stopped him from saying anything conservative about illegals here and H1Bs until 2 months before the first primary.

Trump is beholden to nobody, so is much more likely to do what he says.

Calpublican: You miss the appeal of Trump...first candidate out of the box with the courage to call illegal immigration for what it is...nobody else did..he has led consistently on this issue since Day 1...the only candidate that is for putting the American worker first, and by extension all Americans. Has been consistently against TPP from it’s inception. The only candidate talking about reforming the VA and supporting our vets. Is for a full repeal of Obamacare, for tax reform, and has been a solid supporter of 2A issues. Trump is running on a strong conservative platform.

I like Ted. Ted is a solid conservative and would be a good President. However, from a leadership perspective, this is no contest. The anti-Trump crowd gets wrapped up in either minor issues like Trump’s past support of Kelo or fixates on his 8 year stint as a Democrat in the 2000’s. Our country is falling apart. I could care less if Trump was advocating for eminent domain as a businessman. My government practices eminent domain against me every day. They steal my wages, they steal my privacy, they steal my retirement, they are stealing my kids’ futures, they are trying to steal my right to self defense. If anyone wants to get upset about some buildings and highways, so be it. As for Trump being a Democrat for a time, who cares? He is running as a conservative now. He can govern like one and be a great president, or he can govern against how he campaigned and he’ll be a one termer...If he builds the damn wall, throws out the illegals and creates jobs he’ll be considered a great President. But if one can claim Trump will not govern as a conservative, I can give counterpoints as to how Ted will not exactly govern as a conservative. H1 Visas, he sidesteps what he will do with the 30 million illegals here, Corker bill, TPP, funded by Hedgefunds and Super PACs. And Jane Long is right, let Ted meet a payroll. Ted is at heart a lawyer and therefore by definition he is slick and not to be trusted. It’s great to give speeches on the floor and have nobody follow you. Getting something done and leading is quite another.
