Trump: Why I may have to go to war with Cruz...GOP front-runner puts Texas senator on notice

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump just put rival Ted Cruz on notice: Get too hot and I'll have to take you down.

Describing the senator from Texas as "nice and supportive," Trump told CNBC’s "Squawk Box" on Monday that the two candidates have similar ideas on many of the issues, including border security and the need for a wall to keep out illegal immigrants.

"[But] If he catches on, I guess we'll have to go to war," Trump said of Cruz, who's seen a bit of a bump nationally and in the early contest states of Iowa and New Hampshire since last week's Republican debate.

BTW....do you happen to know when the Donald is going to pull out his Death Ray and turn all of us Cruz supporters into Sanders Supporters? I want to make sure I get the tin foil hat on, on time.

That's not a girl.

I only say substantive things when I am addressing an audience of substance.

There were several purges in other primary seasons as well.
It’s usual here for primary/election seasons, but one hasn’t been begun here.....yet.

Most of us who support Trump are realistic, and do not expect him to do everything we wish he would do, and that he will do some things we do not like. However, we believe that he is the only candidate we have that can overcome the massive fraud that is going to happen, and attract a lot of independents and democrats crossing over; he will keep Hillary out of the white house. Our hope is that he will do what he promised about the massive illegal invasion that is going to destroy our nation, and as a bonus rid us of the GOPe so that we once again have at least one political party that belongs to the people. If he does those two things, our nation will survive, and we will not be disappointed. We will have a future so that we can elect good conservative people in the future, such as Ted Cruz and Scott Walker. Without Trump there is no future, that is how dire things are for this nation. I wish you could see it.

You’re right. I miss the appeal of Trump but will vote for him if he is the candidate.

“Not one Trumpet has explained with any plausibility that Trump won’t revert and flip flop to previous positions. As far as I am concerned he can’t be trusted.”

I’ll have a stab. You can accept it as plausible or not, as you like. First, it’s important to point out the Trump was a Republican first, in the 80’s, before switching to Democrat, and back to Republican again, so you can apply the same skepticism to how much of a Conservative he is now, to how much of a Liberal he really was back then.

I think it’s fair to ask just how committed was he to the beliefs of the Democrat party during 2001-2009. My own take is that issues like abortion, gay marriage, and social issues like that were not that important to him one way or the other, back then. He has always been more focused on economic issues and military issues. My sense is that there were other factors involved in his registering Democrat during that period. And as such, his acceptance of the pro-choice position, as an example, was just a casual acceptance of the default position of the Democrats on that issue. Does anybody really believe that the feminist pro-abortion sensibility, or the radical homosexual agenda is what really animates Trump? Those are side issues for him, but at least he’s taken the right position on them, now that he’s thrown his hat into the ring.

Then why was he a Democrat back then? Who can say for sure. I have some speculations on why, but it seems clear to me that it wasn’t the social issues that drove him there.

As for the rest, I think his goals have always been the same - a strong country, both economically and military. The scheming social engineering of the Left was never his thing, even when he was a Democrat.

I think it’s on his core issues like the economy, military, etc., for which the strong case can be made, that he has genuinely evolved, in the same way that Reagan did. His goals for a strong economy and strong military have never waivered. His ideas on how to achieve those ends, have evolved in the right direction as he has turned his attention to them more over the past few years.

Thanks for the well crafted, thoughtful response. It is good to see a calm rational Trump supporter. You make some good arguments. Good luck.

HA! “Branch Trumpidians”! That’s rich. But, funny!

I wouldn’t get too used to that term around here though. We may have to take a Trumpidian Branch to your netherregion hangin’ out there, exposed. LOL!
