DES MOINES, Iowa â The fireworks actually began flying a few hours before Saturday nightâs Democratic presidential primary debate at Drake University.
A top aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., one of the three candidates, got into a lengthy dispute with executives from CBS, the network hosting the debate, during a conference call on Saturday morning. A staffer for one of the other campaigns who was also on the call described the exchange to Yahoo News as âheatedâ and even âbizarre,â and a second source on the call confirmed the nature of the exchange.
Sanders strategist Mark Longabaugh lit into CBS vice president and Washington bureau chief Christopher Isham when the changes to the debate were detailed on the call.
âIt was a little bit of a bizarre scene. The Sanders representative, you know, really laid into CBS and basically ⦠kind of threw, like, a little bit of a fit and said, âYou are trying to turn this into a foreign policy debate. Thatâs not what any of us agreed to. How can you change the terms of the debate, you know, on the day of the debate. Thatâs not right,ââ the staffer recounted.

Yeah, as president, you NEVER would be called upon to switch your focus as a result of spontaneous events that happen in the world.
Free college, $15 hr. min. wage and higher taxes for rich people - that’s what is important.
Pay no attention to the debt, terrorist threats, and lack of good jobs.

Jeez, Bernie! If you can’t beat Hillary “the Butcher of Benghazi” Clinton on foreign policy you might as well pack it in.
Go back to Vermont and explain to them why you flip-flopped on gun control. lol
Green energy will provide all those jobs.
“I can only remember this stuff for so long...they just loaded domestic issues this morning. I don’t have time to download foreign policy.”
And if he was an R, that would be the first question he is asked.
I don’t think FNC shared with the candidates what questions would be asked. Is it common for the moderators to tell the candidates what they’ll be asking? Or is this just a leftist to leftist courtesy?
Coffee break is over, back on your hamster wheels.
Sanders would never make it running as a Republican.
sure he could. The GOPe would support a Socialist
After reading this, I’m starting to want to watch the debate. Will there be a debate thread? Does anyone have a link to watch the debate for the TV free?
Excellent point!
It’s on CBS.
.
It’s on CBS.
It looks like it could be free:

As this is the biggest story in the world right now, and touches directly on potential crises that a president might face, CBS would look foolish if they ignored the Paris attacks.
While Bernie and Hillary would rather talk about safe spaces and micro aggression and $15 minimum wage rates and global warming, there are other issues in the world believe it or not.
