You just hit a home run. Trump's understanding of the theological underpinnings are probably nonexistent, superficial at best. Likewise the rest of the candidates.
“Theological underpinnings” will not sweep anyone into office as nice as that might be.
Cruz will have to enter the presidency on Trump’s coattails. Cruz simply does not have the persona nor does he connect anywhere near the way Trump does or Reagan did.
But with Cruz as Trump’s VP (and following Trump into the presidency), we could conceivably see sixteen years of renewal of our Constitutional Republic, a HUGE CUT in the size of government (about an 80% cut would probably get close to putting it back into its constitutional cage), and a rebirth of freedom in America and around the world.
Cruz will not win against Hillary. The numbers and energy at Trump’s rally crowds prove beyond all doubt he is the one that can beat Hillary head to head. We need the first win, the election win, for any of the secondary wins to occur. “Theological underpinnings” won’t matter without an election win!
I say that as a strong Cruz supporter.
