Police are reportedly chasing a car containing four 'heavily armed men' who stormed through a motorway toll road as they headed towards Paris.
French police are said to be in pursuit of a Citroën Berlingo after it forced its way through a toll on the A10 in the Ablis area of Yvelines in north-west France.
The town is approximately 40 miles from the centre of Paris and the incident comes as police remain on high alert following a string of deadly terror attacks across the French capital last night.

Thank you for having an open mind. I get so tired of big mouths who know nothing about France but pile on whenever the occasion arises. They should be ashamed of their sick statements when our oldest Ally is under attack.
I was in France on 9/11 and will never forget the numerous French people, some complete strangers, who came to me offering their condolences with tears in their eyes. I was told many personal stories about World War II and our beloved Greatest Generation. Regardless of what some idiots on FR and other blogs think, the French have NOT forgotten us. Not by a long shot!
It is a fairly consistent number as reported by several websites over the past several years. my post showing a comparison of France as compared to Great Britain uses Wiki, but others are available. Simply google Firearms per country or any variable.
Knowing the French as I do, I think the number is low for France in all reality. I believe France is more heavily armed than is thought. I hold a Lifetime French Hunting License (since 1988) and have always placed well in competitive Trap Shooting there so I’m quite familiar with the subject.
Still, I don’t know if they have enough of any sort of “national will” left to take on anyone these days, let alone the Islamists. Certainly their current political leadership gives one little hope that they are inclined to be serious about such things.

Quite frankly, I wonder if WE have any “national will” left. Certainly, our leadership has thrown in the towel as far as the Muslims go.
I’m not familiar with that law, but know permitted arms MUST BE STORED in a SAFE BOLTED TO the floor and wall.

Seriously, they aren’t counting illegal guns and unregistered guns. We “had” quite a few guns from family that were originally acquired before guns sales were registered.
Alas, they were all lost when we tried to convey them to an island in the middle of a lake and the boat overturned. Luckily, we were able to swim to safety.
Having been a multiple gun owner in France since 1988, I have found no unsuitable restrictions as European gun ownership goes. Take a look at the U.K. if you want to find restrictions that are outlandish.

They are not at all ridiculous for the average person. I have bought guns in France with absolutely no problem. I have also transported my guns (duly enclosed in a gun case) through Paris airports with no questions asked. Try it at Heathrow or Gatwick!
I looked at the numbers for France, and the 31 firearms per 100 people is generally accepted. But it seems that most of those are firearms that are held outside of legal channels.
Do these numbers seem plausible to you?

I said on here last night I will no longer leave my home unarmed, and I won't.
I won't be going into these stupid "gun free zones" which the muzzies and all the drugged up whack-jobs use as killing fields either.
Heading to my favorite gun store in a little bit, looking for a new conceal/carry harness for my HnK USP Compact 45. Time to keep a little more firepower on me.
Let’s just say that I know several Englishmen who didn’t have “a good enough reason” to own a firearm in England. Most of them have moved to France and now own firearms for hunting and shooting sports.
My DIL and SIL(who is French) live in rural France. He has a shotgun and license because he and his Dad and brother hunt. He has to renew the license periodically.
They possibly made entrance inside the stadium with the guns after the homicide bomber detonated himself out front.
Thank you. I lived in France too. Last night it was to me almost as if we in the USA were attacked. It hurt bad and it still does today.
Porous borders? I lived for three years in Geneva, and we used to grocery shop in France where things were much cheaper. I knew which neighborhood border crossings weren’t staffed after 4 so I wouldn’t have to declare our wine and chocolate.
And they had conscription until not too long ago. Most of my French friends who are my age served., I wish people would quit blaming all of french citizens for their country’s issues they are helpless against their own government just like us. And like us they try to do what they can but are outnumbered by the libs in the huge cities.
By comparison with other countries, it is. As stated before, I believe France is even more heavily armed than believed.
A personal incident: I was fairly well known in a region of France for hunting and trap shooting. Under certain conditions I would use my Winchester Model 12, set up for trap,for Pigeon hunting as well as shooting trap. A law was passed requiring all Pump guns to be registered which of course included my model 12. One day, a couple of years after the passage of the law, a Gendarme asked me “When are you going to register your Model 12?” I looked him in the eye and said, “Never!” He smiled, chuckled, and said, “I don’t blame you.” That was the end of the discussion and I never heard any more on the subject.
