France was a warrior nation long after Joan of Arc. France was broken in 1917. French soldiers have at time served with distinction since then as well, but they are now outliers in a culture that seems to have given up.
Agreed. WW1 broke the french. They are fighting in parts of afrika today. We dont hear about it unless we read the ukdaily news since American journalism is about cover up and lies and talking airheads on all sides, not reporting facts.
The French Foreign Legion was certainly 'bad ass' and the French forces that fought in the Algerian unpleasantness were world class nasty.
It's a shame that neither is still around to lend some backbone.
