[Update at 5:15 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13: After this article was first posted, several sources confirmed that all Eagles of Death Metal band members are safe and unharmed. One of those sources, drummer Julian Dorio’s wife Emily, told the Washington Post that Dorio called to let her know that “everyone on stage was able to get off.” See the end of the article for further updates.]
As we reported earlier, one of the targets of today's terrorist attacks in Paris was Le Bataclan, a concert venue where Palm Desert-based band Eagles of Death Metal had just performed. At first, it was unclear whether any members of the band were among the 100-plus hostages taken at the theater by a group of six to eight attackers. But according to various sources since, at least some of the band members were already outside the theater when the attack began, although not all band members or crew have been accounted for.
An update posted around 3:45 p.m. Pacific time on Eagles of Death Metal's Facebook page reads: “We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.”

no doubt...just stupid.
From what I've read, this band is an offshoot of the band Queens of the Stone Age and their band name is a tongue in cheek name.
Are you an American? That sounds like a response I'd get from ISIS, a 9 year old or some psycho.
They are not really a death metal band it is just some thing in the name. Josh Homme, the cat in the back is quite accomplished.
His bands:
Queens of the Stone, Age The Desert Sessions Millionaire, Them Crooked Vultures, Jack Black, Kyuss
Them Crooked Vultures with John Paul Jones was pretty good.
We do it all the time. The saccharine sentimentality being expressed here is absurd. I suppose you wouldn’t “judge” Gramsci or Marcuse or Marx or that guy who was the author of Mein Kampf. After all, who are you to “judge” (which reflects a kind of deformed postmodern evangelicalism).I suppose you are familiar with the collected works of Eagles of Death Metal or whatever they call themselves.
As I said, I would prefer that only the Muslims had died, but that is being “judgmental”, too.
What I really wish for is rainbows and unicorns.
It’s a tongue in cheek band name. Educate yourself before you go off spouting nonsense.
Yeah. Recognized him.
Hard-ish rock but no Megadeth or Black Label Society.
I frankly don’t care what you think. I responded to an overwrought expression of joy that a metal band escaped. Good, they escaped, but unfortunately I suspect many better people didn’t. If that bothers you, piss off.
Yeah, I have never been a huge fan but he is solid and knows how to do it the defunct music industry.
Yeah. Compare a campy kind of band to Pol Pot or Marx. No. I wasn’t familiar with them before this evening. I do know how to do research before forming an opinion, however. I suggest you do likewise.
I went and checked out the band on YouTube, interesting sound. Figured they’d be on the artsy side to be a draw in Paris and they are, but not quite what you’d think. Always liked Queens Of The Stone Age. Jack Black is a bartender in the video for “The Boy’s Bad News.”
It’s nice when right off the bat you know who the d*ck in the room is. Thank you........
Check out them crooked vultures if you have a taste for zeppelin.
Gotta love FreeRepublic. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that we can’t get into an argument about.
Don’t bother Achilles, it’s getting ready to open a new bag of hot cheetohs in its mom’s basement.......
or at least something a bit more classic hard edged but newish.
Might as well throw BBQ into the thread. Smoked a 13lb pork butt this morning. GOOD STUFF!
The. Name. Is. A. Joke. The Eagles of Death Metal...as in, “You guys are about as Death Metal as the 1970s band The Eagles of ‘Hotel California’ and ‘Tequila Sunrise’ fame.” You know, there is a lot to be upset about here, but their name isn’t the thing.
Neither is their music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DLVLRpKtYc
