[Update at 5:15 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13: After this article was first posted, several sources confirmed that all Eagles of Death Metal band members are safe and unharmed. One of those sources, drummer Julian Dorio’s wife Emily, told the Washington Post that Dorio called to let her know that “everyone on stage was able to get off.” See the end of the article for further updates.]
As we reported earlier, one of the targets of today's terrorist attacks in Paris was Le Bataclan, a concert venue where Palm Desert-based band Eagles of Death Metal had just performed. At first, it was unclear whether any members of the band were among the 100-plus hostages taken at the theater by a group of six to eight attackers. But according to various sources since, at least some of the band members were already outside the theater when the attack began, although not all band members or crew have been accounted for.
An update posted around 3:45 p.m. Pacific time on Eagles of Death Metal's Facebook page reads: “We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.”

Thank you God. Glad they made it out safely. A miracle amongst all that carnage.
I’m trying really hard to care. Any one of the actual victims is probably worth more than the entire band.
Thanks. So this was a Rock concert. I’ve been picturing a Classical Music concert.
2 of their crew still unaccounted for however. Maybe the sound guy or other crew.
I don’t think any life is worth more than another. It would have been wonderful if all in the hall had escaped but that fact that some did is cause for thanksgiving imo.
They aren’t all that metal as I know it.
Sorry to hear that, hope they made it too.
Your comment is utterly disgusting...
I read a little about that. The leader played his song for a friend and said, “It’s death metal!” His friend thought that was ridiculous and said, “Yeah, it’s the Eagles of death metal!” And the name stuck.
That's a horrible thing to say. Who are you to judge the value of anyone's life? Wow!
While I am glad for them, I find it a bit disconcerting that people like this seem to glibly celebrate the maccabre with such names and more often than not, lyrics of less than uplifting nature. It is truly ironic.
>> âItâs death metal!â
Apparently so.
Why, because these Americans reportedly survived a close call in a European terrorist attack?
That's a pretty damn odd response ya got there arhilles2000.

Praise God for answering our prayers...
I disagree. Stalin’s, Hitler’s, Pol Pot’s, and Mao’s lives were worth less than the life of the average wino. If I had the ability to save Beethoven or Jeffrey Dahmer, the choice would be easy. The members of a band called “Death Metal” or “Metal of Death” or whatever the hell it was were undoubtedly promoting nihilism and cultural degradation. It doesn’t deserve death, but any rational, decent person, given the choice, would prefer that some of the ordinary mothers and fathers had made it out instead.
Of course, I would have preferred that all the Muslim terrorists would have been killed and no one else. But that reflects my view that NOT all lives matter, and some lives don’t matter very much.
“Other than that Mrs. Lincoln... how was the concert?”
Well, glad they- whoever they are- got out.
Suggest that the band changes their name now.
