German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she is "deeply shaken by the news and pictures that are reaching us from Paris". The German leader issued a statement saying her thoughts were with the victims "of the apparent terrorist attack".

This hits so close to home somehow. And why not? Our own president belittles Isis and may have armed them.

I wonder what our pathetic excuse for a president will have to say. No doubt his people are crafting his statement as we speak. They’ll need to walk a fine line — giving him words that sound angry but that avoid validating the views of the average middle American or putting the blame squarely where it needs to be.
