Yup, that is because it is a cult of personality.
The cannot stand Trump not leading. Any poll with Carson in the lead is a push poll (somehow the same media had Trump in the lead by a lot the past few months).
Because deep down many are terrified that once he loses his lead, it's over. As the saying goes - live by the proverbial polls, die by them. Once Trump's air of inevitability is punctured, the air goes out of the balloon. His shtick gets old, the entertainment value of his appearances diminishes and once that happens there is nothing left but bluster.
Thank you for your very reasoned comments.
I am not voting for Ben Carson, nor am I a fan of Megyn Kelly or many other people Trump attacks.
But I really think that deep down Trump is a vicious person who thinks he is superior to all, and many (not all) of his supporters are similar.
Anyone who supports anyone other than Trump (except maybe Cruz) is a heretic who is disowned from conservatism.
Meanwhile Trump’s record is far from conservative, and this is often off-limits to his supporters.
I currently support Cruz, but if Trump attacks Carson enough, it almost tempts me to vote for Carson.
Anyway, nice to talk to you. Maybe you and I will vote for different people in the GOP primary, but at least we both will not support ad hominem person attacks against other candidates.
