Many of the Founding Fathers were businessmen, and many of them took time off to become public servants. They got us this far.

And now that we’ve had several lawyer/politicians serving during the past several decades, you can’t be entirely honest if you claim they have left us in better shape as a nation.

Glad you brought it up. Those businessmen Founding Fathers could have done what Trump has done, put financial advantage above politics, and gone along with the Crown. In their day, it certainly would have been a "cost of doing business." Instead, they are our Founding Fathers and signers of the Declaration of Independence, precisely because they were the businessmen who REFUSED to do that.

Those guys not only put politics before business, the put their businesses, property, and lives on the line. They didn't send as much money to advance the Crown as to advance the opposition in order for their businesses in order to remain prosperous. They risked losing all of it because they put political principle first.

Bringing a business mindset (as Trump does with his "really really terrific" replacement for Obamacare) to government, is a mistake. Bring a political mindset to it. Cruz's political mindset is Constitutional limited government, and it has always been that.
