The Wheels Are (Finally) Coming Off the Trump Campaign
The Fiscal Times ^ | 11/13 | Rob Garver

Posted on 11/13/2015 9:04:22 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

It took longer than almost anybody expected, but on Thursday night, it looked as though the wheels were finally starting to come off Donald Trump’s run for the presidency. It’s too early to write his political obituary just yet – he’s shown remarkable resilience in the face of ridicule and disdain – but even Trump will have trouble recovering from a day in which he repeatedly compared his chief rival to a “child molester” and invited attendees at a campaign event to bring a knife up on stage and try to stab him.

Trump has been aggressively attacking retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has pulled even with him in national opinion polls of Republican primary voters. Last weekend, Trump’s attacks became more pointed, and he latched on to a line from Carson’s book, Gifted Hands, in which Carson described his childhood temper as “pathological.”

Well, I’m curious, a surgeon with his precision would seem to be able to accurately hit such a big target as his mother’s head or his friend’s tummy...I would think? BTW, those people were supposedly close to him, what did he do to the people he didn’t like? :-(

I really wish he would stick to the issues.

He has to have some advisers so I would expect tem to tell him to tone down his obsessing on Carson in his next speech/interview, assuming they are free to talk openly. If he does he can recover from any damage his tirade caused. And it's not clear whether it damaged him with supporters. Naturally his detractors in the press and supporters of other candidates will be all over it.

No it’s the Establishment is panicking.

They have the Establishment media on an all out assault on Trump today. This is because they FEAR he will win. See Drudge Headline right now where they are trying to roll Mitt Romney back out. Remember they were just attacking Carson last week.

What Trump said was correct though. Who do you know have attacked their mother with a hammer or attempted to stab a friend? Do you think that is normal???

I do still like Carson, but he is simply to soft spoken and nice. Our country is in trouble. We need a STRONG business leader instead of another stinking politician. We need someone that is not bribe-able or afraid of political correctness. That man is Trump.

“Trump dead, Chapter 147.”

Coming soon: Trump implodes as his wheels come off while jumping the shark.

Trump is a salesman, huckster and a deal maker. He is not a conservative.

If he gets elected, I will feel sorry for the Freepers who were taken in by this con artist.

The easiest argument against Carson - at least in my mind - is this:

“Ben Carson has even less experience than Barack Obama.”

Next.

I was disillusioned at first but now starting to think he’s exposing Carson as a pathological liar. The story about a call from the legal dept. is just wrong on so many levels.

Carson FLAT OUT LIED in front of 18 million Americans during the CNBC debate -- when he said he had no relationship with "nutriceuticals" fraud artists Mannatech. He said they used his photo without his permission -- another huge lie. He made a fortune from them and did HOURS of videos. He lied when he said their products cured his prostate cancer (he had surgery top do that).

A man who could lie so easily about something so big in front of so many people, is capable of lying about ANYTHING, and should NEVER be trusted with the reigns of power.

I don’t think the wheels are coming off Mr. Trump’s campaign, but the delineation between Trump and Carson is becoming even more clear. It’s a great metaphor for American culture.

I agree. I’m a Trump supporter but now I skip the first half hour of any speech he’s sceduled to give. Someone needs to tell him to be more conversational and less bellicose at this stage.

Lol! That’s not exactly what I meant. I don’t think there is even a remote possibility that Trump will begin acting like Romney.

You may be correct about Cruz not really connecting with the average voter, and I wish I could explain it. I understand him sufficiently. Some may resent Ted because he has exposed the lies of the elder statesmen, like McConnell. Too much the congressional troublemaker, like Rand Paul. Some may become uneasy at Ted’s biblical fluency, and his speechmaking powers. Too much like a younger Mike Huckabee.

“And if anyone takes the time to watch it, he’ll come out on top.”

Really? Most American voters are too lazy to form their opinions about candidates on anything other than party loyalty or sound bites ran on mainstream TV in between sitcom reruns. Few will listen to all of Trump’s speech. Big TV is already editing and packaging Trump’s speech to get all the negative and shock spin bits for the “news” shows.

Trump should campaign on issues and hold off on bashing opponents until it’s Hillary he is bashing.

So, you’ve only seen a few short clips and you think it was “fantastic.” I was embarrassed to see my guy go into meltdown he belabored the Carson thing for what seemed like hours. He should have made one pass and moved on to policy issues.
