U.S. Representative Maxine Waters recently took the federal governmentâs financial services agencies to task for not promoting racial and ethnic diversity in their employment ranks.
On Nov. 5, Waters, the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, along with members of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Hispanic and Asian- Pacific Islanders caucuses, commented on "The Dodd-Frank Act Five Years Later: Diversity in the Financial Service Agencies" report. The document criticized seven financial services agencies for not implementing the equal employment opportunity portions of Dodd-Frank, the 2010 law that mandated Wall Street and other financial firms improve their practices regarding consumer protection.
"I am disappointed to find that, more than five years after the enactment of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act and the Dodd- Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that included provisions intended to promote workforce and supplier diversity and inclusion, the federal financial services agencies have largely failed to improve on these critical matters," Rep Waters said at a press conference on the report. "As communities of color continue to face an insurmountable wealth gap and as African- American unemployment remains stagnant at 9.2 percent, our nation cannot afford to have a federal government that is out of touch with the needs of racial and ethnic minorities and women and their daily financial challenges."(snip)
The report concludes that minorities and women remain underrepresented in the workforce of the agencies in a manner that is out of proportion to their percentages of the American population, minorities and women are significantly underrepresented at the level of senior management, and Black employees generally receive lower performance management ratings than White employees.

Misleading headline; one would get the impression that our minority-laden gubmint workforce isn’t diverse enough. The federal government hires financial firms employees now?
They don’t want work; they want checks. There are enough Asians and white women to fill quotas - so blacks will keep making noise until “diverse” means “black” - not Hispanic, female, Asian, etc.
See # 3; this isn’t about government workers. Apparently ALL employers have to pay their share of “reparations via makework”.

Are we reaching a point where blacks and only blacks will be eligible for governmental employment? All in the name of “diversity?” Or perhaps we can reserve all top positions for blacks and keep lower-level jobs for token whites.
She should ask Hillary why Mrs. Clinton only paid her female staffmembers 75% of their male counterparts (this was true of her government staff as well as campaign staffers).
Except that Huma woman was making bank working 4 jobs during the same hours.
Half are promised a government pension (sometimes at 90% of their annual salary).

This isn’t about government jobs; it is specifically financial firms.
Blacks aren’t the only ones eligible for government jobs, but the government seems to be the only employer that sees any value in hiring them (since losses can be made up with tax increases). I’d love to see what the black unemployment rate would be without the artificial government jobs awarded to them based solely on their skin color.
Agreed, I now work D.C. and I see plenty of so called POC’s in government jobs and way more than I expected, I do not know what this woman is smoking also true diversity is of thought and ability not color, but she is an dumb@ss so no wonder.
FYI, I have not listed my ethnic background for any job for the last so many years only that I am a male.
Perhaps she didn’t consider the janitorial staff in her reckoning?
Then "We's in charge now" will be true and permanent. At many government agencies, step 'n' shuffle blacks who are slow and not good at their jobs are what the public meets.

The mystery is that liberal whites are to dumb to see it.
She is trying to fend off any discussion about the value (or legality) of affirmative action while trying to counter the forces at work that have seen many token blacks that were in positions beyond their abilities laid off as companies face harsh economic realities.
Obama’s true legacy is preserving affirmative action for eight more years; it is legally and morally indefensible, and with over-the-top demands (that could never be met) they have succeeded in preserving the status quo (which was bad enough).
In my experience many office jobs formerly held by black malcontents have been given to Hispanic females - so the lawyers & government are powerless to intervene. Still an “endangered species” in the slot...

Pointless question as it has a foundation in logic. The only question “people” like Waters or a Jackson-Lee would understand would have to be asked in an interrogation mode.

fact is diversity brings in unqualified and incompetent workers who take jobs from those qualified
if race IS NOT AN ISSUE THAN WHY WOULD OR SHOULD IT BE A FACTOR IN HIRING, ESPECIALLY FOR GOVERNMENT JOBS..

Where I used to work; the whites are being replaced with very intelligent and hard working Asians. Somebody here called them the new whites.They wil have to deal with quota’s.
DC Metro is over 90% black. DC is about 65% black.
They’re having trouble finding a manager because of all the problems, some of them deadly, that Metro has.
Where the hell does she live?
Every federal, state and local agency is swarming with her
“people of color”.
In some it is becoming rare to see a white person.
