âI often long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood,â joked Sen. Fred Thompson, the âLaw & Orderâ star who recently died. A real-life prosecutor and Watergate counsel, Thompson formulated the famous question that hastened Richard Nixonâs downfall: âWhat did the president know, and when did he know it?â
If you believe this question still delivers political accountability, Think Again. Alas, the Watergate eraâs bipartisan commitment to equal and impartial justice has been rendered obsolete by lawmakers who often operate lawlessly. Capturing the hypocrisy, comedian Bill Murray tweeted: âSo, if we lie to the government, itâs a felony. But if they lie to us its politics.â
Bernie Sanders is right.

I liked this line: "Imagine Woodward and Bernstein covering Nixonâs burglars as if they were Broadway performers." It seems one person's witch-hunt is someone else's casting call.
You like a line you wrote yourself?

If you’re just here promoting your own stuff, why not say so?
Now the question is,”What did the President know, and when did he stop knowing it.”
If the past is any guide, you won’t get an answer.
And if the poster is the author, I vote “guilty.”
Who cares? It’s tastefully done and I found it both nostalgic and compelling.
Thanks, N00b.
I totally appreciate your view on using Free Republic as an advertising tool.
I agree with you., hg.
The same question as asked of FDR right after Pearl Harbor Attack, IIRC.
Only it wasn’t Fred Thompson who asked the question! It was Howard Baker.....
Did mom kick you out of the house? Lose your hall monitor FR duties? Bwahahahaha!
Not my words, Humblegunner. Those are Melanie’s. I just like the ways she puts them together.
I’m Glenn Miller (@glennjmiller), and I’ll say so in my profile as soon as the site lets me.
No problem Spud. Your views are appreciated by some.
The Bill Murray account she references says it’s a parody account. And it’s spitting out advertising stuff, so seems to be a fake for sure.
No, your mom was begging me to stay.

A Suggestion for Bloggers Who Post at FR
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2776537/posts
I have no complaint if a good conservative blogger posts his own material to FR, not as an excerpt to drive hits and discussion back to his blog, but rather to impart useful information to OUR readers and to promote and join in on the discussion and conservative activism HERE on FR.
If a blogger can't or refuses do that, and if he constantly complains or fights with our participants over it, then I'd just as soon he doesn't post here.

The Pimp and The Poster (Mod Lecture Series)

I liked the post. It triggered my interest in a topic I hadn’t thought about in a while. I found the post useful and tasteful.
Wouldn’t it have been wonderful to share the full text then?
More people reading it would be good then.
I don’t know what your game is. But I’m done and moved on. Too many topics and too many threads to keep up with. You do what you want.
No game.
The owner and administrators have asked blog posters not to excerpt and try to direct traffic and discussion away from Free Republic.
Some don’t know that. Some know it and do not care.
The problem is not content from blogs. It is short excerpts to use Free Republic as a free advertising. Some of us that donate money to support Free Republic agree with Jim and the Admins and don’t want it used that way.
Cheers!
