What's the big trick? Slam the employers. 5 years in jail, per illegal employee, or how about a fine based on 20% of taxable value of the business, per illegal?

Oklahoma made illegals too expensive to hire, and they headed for greener pastures, much to the relief of the local Hispanic community. The 20 to an apartment landlords were annoyed, the Chinese buffet owners who would supply a car, in one of their name's, Spanish porn on cable, sometimes even mattresses. The illegals were worked from 9 to midnight, 7 days a week.

It was also amazing how the one I knew would rifle the till every day for his gambling debts, (He'd bet on any and everything.), and forget his English when inspectors dropped by, until they wanted a "fee".

No kidding.

I’ve traveled this country extensively for the last couple of decades, and I know for a fact, from the evidence of my own eyeballs, that the figure you arrived at, 31 million, is about as conservative an estimate as can be arrived at.

It’s probably much higher.

It’s a national catastrophe.

Rubio is constructing his excuses for implementing Amnesty For All if he is elected.

The way that deportations have been going up with each administration, why is it so hard to believe Trump can continue the upward trend?

As of March 8, the Obama administration had deported 2,087,456 people since fiscal 2009, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement statistics.

By comparison, the U.S. deported 2,012,539 people under Bush; 869,646 people under President Bill Clinton; 141,326 under President George H.W. Bush; and 168,364 people under President Ronald Reagan, according to ICE statistics.

Enforce existing immigration laws and I believe they would self deport - at least most - no employment, no welfare.

And somehow they are here today. That program was NOT successful at all. It probably made it worse.

So we get rid of 11 million and end up with 50 million in 20 years. Great.

That is exactly what happened in 1954 when 1.5 million were deported and after all that the number grew to 11 million.

The only thing that needs to be done is no bennies for illegals and that is it. None. No sanctuary cities. If you want to do that then no federal funding.

I don't think we need to gather 11 million people and walk them across the Rio. There are many other ways to do this.

Here’s how you get rid of most of them:

1) Build the wall - fast.

2) Outlaw birthright citizenship - unless one of your parents is an American citizen at the time of your birth, you can’t be an American unless you immigrate legally and go through the same process as anyone else.

3) Fine one small, one medium and one large employer IN EACH STATE the maximum amount per illegal employee, and feature stories about it in the press and media (like all of the stories about tax evaders in the weeks leading up to April 15).

4) Pass a law stating that anyone who immigrates here is forbidden for 10 years to be on ANY form of public assistance - federal, state or local. Ditto for any crimes (not parking violations or other victimless crimes, but specifically including ANY drug offense).

5) No illegal gets citizenship - EVER, even if we let them stay because they are otherwise decent and law-abiding members of society.

6) Blanket Central and South American newspapers with ads letting the people there know that the free ride in America is OVER: there’s a fence, no birthright citizenship, no jobs unless you come in legally, no welfare or food stamps, etc.

Most will self-deport after these steps are implemented. Self-deportation is easy - hop on a bus or plane and leave. No one will try to stop you. If you can’t afford it, we’ll happily pay the fare, and even provide you with a shower, food and a new set of clothes. But just go.

Exactamente! If e-verify is enforced and handouts to illegals are eliminated millions of them will get on a Greyhound Bus and leave, and more importantly, they will stop coming. I heard Trumps interview with Mark Levin yesterday. Trump said we would not have to send thousands of busses into neighborhoods. Maybe somebody in the Trump campaigns is monitoring Free Republic.

As someone married to a College grad born in Mexico I could not agree more.
My wife will not go to Mexico anymore. Kidnapping, drugs and beheadings make them Isis with a little Catholicism here and there. They even have their own Saint of drugs.
Men in family molesting their relatives is all over. Outside of the city men kidnap and drag a woman to their house if they want them. After that the women have to hope they marry them or they wifi be considered unworthy for marriage by someone else.

Most come here for the dole. Why be broke in Mexico and be hungry when yo can be broke but rich on the dole in the USA.

Most take welfare, disability and everything else and send the money south for mortgage payments on their growing estates.

A BIG WALL!

30-40 million.
Cut off the dole through anchor babies.
E-verify jobs with fines and a lot of it goes south.

Or, as Levin likes to point out, what are they going to do-round up and arrest 11 million tax evaders?

I think we all know the answer to that one.

“Prevent illegals from having bank accounts and using wire transfer services “

Are you saying that the Mexican government’s motivation for letting their citizens come to America is that these immigrants send a lot of money back to Mexico?

You said earlier that this money-sending from America back to Mexico is Mexico’s largest source of hard cash.

"The flip side of it is I do not believe you can round up and deport 11 million, especially people that have been here 15 years, have not otherwise violated the laws, can pass background checks and so forth," he continued.

It would be interesting to try it. All of them are criminals. All of them are committing an ongoing crime by being here and most are committing other crimes to cover it up. Some are career criminals who are only here to engage in violent crime, drug crime, and illegal prostitution.

If we tried rounding illegals up, we might be surprised how many would leave on their own, particularly if we charged them for the costs of rounding them up and deportation. If we tried fining employers seriously rather than a token effort every election year, we might be surprised how many jobs would go to Americans instead of to illegals. The remaining jobs would still go to foreigners, one way or another, but they would go to them legally.

The sad thing about today's politics is that the most compassionate thing for foreigner workers is to enforce the law. Hillary/Jeb/Rubio's policies encourage the abuse of those people. If we restored the rule of law, those who did come would have the full protection of the law, and would make more money for working here - exactly what the Chamber of Commerce and the big government liberals are trying to avoid. If I were a skilled worker from another country trying to get a job that no American wanted, I would support Cruz or Trump.
