My experience is that the govt always telegraphs what it is going to do and what they know is going to happen. IMO the grid is likely going down but not from a solar flare. More likely cyber attack.

I agree. If it turns out we somehow were involved in the downing of the Russian airliner, Putin will retaliate but will make it look like ISIS did it.
