Conservative presidential candidate Ben Carson says the $7.25 federal minimum wage should be raised.
âI think, probably, it should be higher than now,â Carson told CNBCâs John Harwood in an interview Friday.
Carson added that government assistance often provides more than the minimum wage in several states, allowing people to ignore the long-term benefits of a job.

Yeppers, I have those policy differences against him as well.
Policy differences I can handle, it's attacks like the Politico hack piece that I will defend Carson on.
I also agree with Longbow1969 about Trump.
But if it comes down to Hillary and Carson or Trump, it will be Carson or Trump for president.
Agreed.
He has steadily avoided the pitfalls and has slowly risen in the polls as the libs and Kardashian candidates flitter up and down on the fickle whims of their fickle supporters.
At the end of the race he will be where he needs to be. In firm control of a firm voter support network. People can then either get on board or not.
Thanks, Jim! Now he’s in favor of the sovereignty killing TPP.
It pains me to say it, but I do agree that Cruz has yet to really show he can expand beyond what one would consider he natural base of followers - learned, grounded, ideological conservatives. He is improving slowly within the Republican field - but very slowly, and that does leave one to wonder what kind of cross over appeal he would have in a general election. Cruz is improving as a candidate though and as the most conservative candidate in the race and a skilled debater who really understands the issues, I will continue supporting him.
Cruz' only realistic path to the white house begins with a prominent position in a Trump administration.
Trump is near the bottom of my list. Sorry, but no thanks. If he is the nominee I would vote for him in the general, but I would not be enthusiastic about a self promoting realityTV star who I see as not much more than a con man. Hey, what ever happened to his birther investigation? His said his investigators were finding all kinds of amazing stuff in Hawaii.........and then nothing. Not a peep. What happened to that?
We will see. I hope you are right. But I don’t think Cruz can, for reasons beyond his control, tap into the broad anti-Establishment sentiment that is clearly dominating the political landscape.
I like Ben Carson for Surgeon General or head of HSS
**************************************************************
We don’t need a surgeon general. Not sure what HSS is but we probably don’t need that either.
Of course he is, he’s the GOPe plant to knock Trump out to get Bush in to get Hillary elected....why would he say so many stupid remarks if he wasn’t a RAT....
There is exactly one reason that Cruz, as far and away the most conservative candidate in the race, can fail. If conservatives make excuses as usual and vote for a less conservative candidate.
We claim to be conservatives. Cruz has a proven record of lifetime conservationism well into the upper 90th percentile. The people slamming him over his couple mistakes gleefully avoided far worse records to try electing Mitt Romney. That takes their excuses completely of the table in any honest evaluation.
WE stand with Cruz, he wins. We don’t, we get whatever ‘hope and change’ bring our way.
Right now, all you can say about Ben Carson is ‘outsider’.
And he’s trying hard to blend in with the establishment and pundit crowd.
Anytime I see Carson being described as conservative, I’ll know better.
lol. Agreed. While we are making demands of the Wizard here in Oz, I vote for the abolishion of the following as well:
Dept. of Education
EPA
The FED Reserve
Commerce Department
FDA (most of it anyway) Consumer Safety (whatever it's called)
Health and Human Services
Housing and Urban Development
Department of the Interior (nobody even knows what they do)
Department of Agriculture
Small Business Administration
While we are at it, we should also sell the US Postal Service.
Carson, though a nice guy by all accounts, is not conservative. Too many issues we disagree on, minimum wage being the latest.
“Conservative Backs Raising Minimum Wage” is an oxymoron.
Sort of like I was “offered a full scholarship” didn’t really mean he was offered one. But it’s OK if Saint Ben misleads people, because he’s such a good Christian man.
Sad fact of the matter is, our electorate is not that conservative this time around.
Raising taxes on the wealthy and Wall Street, raising the minimum wage, increasing Social Security benefits, will all be highly popular in this cycle IMO.
I hope and pray you are wrong. I pray that the only folks motivated to go to the polls are true conservatives who will vote Cruz into office.
Political toast.
Political toast.
Political toast.
