When I was re-financing a house a few years ago, the bank asked for my SS Award Letter. I asked what was that? They explained. Sure enough, in the original letter it says you have been “awarded” the following SS benefits. So, up front, the government acts like they are giving you something. I don’t look at it as an award.
Only a bureaucrat would see giving back your own hard-earned money as an “award”!
