I have mellowed on gay “marriage” too. A “marriage” between two men still strikes me as equivalent to a “marriage” between a man and a potato, but I recognize that many governments will play make believe on the issue for a while. That’s mellow, isn’t it?

Yep, but I don’t believe they “always” thought that way. These are people who will simply cave into popular opinion on any issue. They’re not for incest or pedophilia now, but if 50+% of the population “evolved” to be for it, they would follow along and say “if everybody is doing it, it can’t be that bad.” It’s the lemming factor.

Social movements only need a small minority of committed followers to radically change the country, because the majority will fall like dominoes once the momentum gets going. That’s why we’re both in more danger than we realize of fundamental transformation of the U.S. and why we’re also more powerful than we realize, if we could simply agree to stand and fight for what we believe in without caving in.

Let's see...I'll try to remember...Oh yes, a Bush! That family , the one that's been running conservatism into the ground since the 80's. First Poppy, who destroyed Reaganomics with those wonderful tax increases ("read my lips"); then W, with that "compassionate conservatism" snake oil, and now we're getting Jeb, who as the CEO of Florida stood by and didn't lift a DAMNED finger while her husband let Terri Schiavo starve to death.

I firmly believe that if Thomas had been white, Bush would have caved. That's what I mean when I said I think he did it for the wrong reasons. I think he only nominated Thomas because he was black, and not because of how qualified and competent he is.

As it turns out, He is the best nomination George HW Bush ever made.
