Salaries of federal employees continue to lag behind those of similar private-sector jobs by 35 percent on average, an advisory committee has said in presenting what amounts to the latest data point in a long-running debate over how the two sectors compare.
The 34.92 percent "pay gap" reported Friday essentially duplicates the 35.37 and 35.28 percent numbers reported the last two years by the Federal Salary Council and is close to those of other recent years....
Under a 1990 law, the numbers are supposed to be used to virtually close the measured differences with private-sector pay. However, no administration or Congress since then has supported providing the funds to do that....

So, a bill to lower private -sector salaries in 5...4....3...
Rat Party unions looking for more $$$ that they can give to guess who!
I’m waving the BS flag here.
Not a surprise at all. When a GS-6 makes 38,000 a year.
That is pathetic. AGS-11 makes around 60K a year with a Masters Degree. Pathetic. Glad the truth is finally getting out there.
Yea, if you believe that, drive around Fairfax County VA or Montgomery County MD and look at all the $1.500,000 tract houses.
Virtually all of the owners live off the taxpayers.
Fire all the government “workers”. We’d all be better off.
An ther bullload from the District of Corruption. Nothing that comes from inside the beltway has even an iota of truth. So disregard the Wapo release.
1) They are not taking into account the gold-plated benefits, package, the obscene amount of paid time-off, or the fact that it’s virtually impossible for a Fed Employee to be fired.
2) Perhaps if they were not growing the Federal Government at such an astounding rate and constantly jamming the pipeline with new employees, they could give out a few raises to the existing ones.
How many of them are doing something that is actually authorized by the Constitution?
Yeah, and if you add in benefits, pensions, holidays, etc, I bet the federal workers are way ahead of the curve,
Where exactly in those counties do the lobbyists and well-connected contractors live?
REPORT FEDERAL EMPLOYEE PRODUCTION 50% LESS THAN PRIVATE SECTOR EMPLOYEES.
Isn’t the difference made up in job security?
We keep hearing that the Federal employees make so much more than private sector. So which one is the truth?
Then get another job.
Of course, you’ll need to learn to write and spell.
Nobody makes a million dollars a year in the federal government. Lots of people do in the private sector. Next question?
The bogus assertion that government employees are paid less for comparable employment in relation to the private sector, has been blown apart again and again.
First of all, the productivity rules for government work are much different than for the private sector, as government, at any level, does not have to perform efficiently. The private sector has to keep an eye on productivity, or die.
The simple fact is, that government employees DO less per hour employed than those of the private sector. But truth to be told, pay scales are much higher within government grade levels, and only some very skewed “comparability” data are used in determining what these levels.
The “pay gaps” are greatly exaggerated. And based on incomplete considerations.
