>I have been very, very concerned at the growing reports of abuse of the program, of companies laying off American workers and replacing them with foreign workers. That’s not what the H-1B program was designed to do.<

.
Hey Ted, start investigating every engineering company and look at the malpractice of the H-1B program that has taken place for the past decade.
about EVERY engineering company is guilty of laying off American engineers and replacing them with foreigners.
Sheesh, this practice has been blatantly pursued for years.

Agreed. Although I actually do know of a couple exceptions (small companies not abusing H-1Bs), I was reading Cruz' statement and screaming:

"IF?!", "IF??!!"

(This from someone (me) who is mostly (mostly) favorably inclined toward Senator Cruz.)

While it may be true some young STEM graduates don't have the work ethic of older STEMs, that does NOT explain the numbers of 40+ age engrs. and such who cannot find employment in their fields.
