If we are to make America great again, we must do all we can to make sure that American interests are protected and that all Americans benefit from the actions of their government. Sadly, that is currently not the case. The incompetent, rudderless Obama administrationâs negligence in foreign policy, trade and national security is making America less confident, less prosperous and less safe. Americans deserve better, and a Trump administration will turn us into winners again.
In late September, President Obama signed an agreement with the Chinese head of state that was intended to add a layer of protection to intellectual property in both countries. The ink was not dry before Chinese-sponsored agents began cyberattacks on private companies in the U.S. That agreement is not worth the paper it is printed on and the Obama administration is not doing a thing to fight back. Unfortunately, this has become an all-too-common pattern of behavior for President Obama.
The American people need to be told the truth about our âpartnerâ China. China holds over $1.4 trillion in U.S. debt. The Chinese are, by far, the largest foreign debt holder. As of the end of August this year, the U.S. trade imbalance with China is already at $237 billion, on the way to an annual trade imbalance north of $350 billion. Chinaâs economy is controlled by the government. Any notion that their economy is based on a free-market system is simply not true. If an American company wants access to the Chinese consumers, that company must share its intellectual property, a condition that violates international fair-trade standards, World Trade Organization rules and common sense.

Bravo, sir!
Yes un-pegging the Chinese yuan to the dollar would be high on the list.
How come is Trump the only speaking out about this?
only one
Make China pay for the wall!!! Wait, that’s Mexico and China already has one anyway.
Because we are in to deep?
We have given ourselves away bit by bit?
Becaused he’s the ONLY one who should be prfesident, right now and the rest shouldn’t be.
Trump writing an Op-Ed about foreign trade before tomorrow’s Fox Business debate is a good move.
Because all the others go numbnutz when it comes to free trade. Even Ben Carson and Cruz supporting the stupid TPP trade deal. What is the definition of a stupid "free" trade deal? When our trade deficits go up afterwards. And this happened with every free trade deal we signed in the last 30 years. Stupid, traitorous hacks in DC rhapsodize over these deals then vote for them....
The Chinese can peg their currency to whatever they want to. Trump should mind his business and this is NOT sarcasm. I am a known free trader.
What if they float the Yuan and it goes down?
It says here you’re a pimp.
“I am a known free trader.”
All fine and dandy, but the other countries are using a stacked deck. Trump wants to even the playing field.
What if they float the Yaan and it goes up?
Sure Trump can persuade the Chinese on trade including telling them do like the rest of the free world by putting their currency to be floated on the currency market.
Good Op-Ed. I loved this comment to the article.
Unfortunately, Trump did not point out the truth: Obama couldn’t sell beer on a troop ship.
Free traitor is a more accurate term.
There is no such thing as “free trade”. To imply otherwise is bull. Our trading “partners” put up huge barriers to American products. China especially.
By artificially pegging the yuan to the dollar, China ensures that their goods are cheaper, fueling their economy while draining ours.
Evidently this scheme works well to line your pocket s, but it is parasitical to the rest of us. Admitting you’re a free traitor in here is like giving us you DU username.
Real simple answer! Special interests and the other candidates simply do not understand business.Very obvious!
