This is logical. As the government school system is raising kids to be the future pimps, prostitutes, and bookies of America, then of course they should discuss it in class materials.

Those who want their children to accomplish more in life should pull their kids out of the government schools.

I goofed yet again!! Too busy watching football and doing other things. I didn’t read so far to see that the questions referred to Maya Angelou! So you both were right that it’s not even a math test, but rather a quiz on things in her life. And so only one word answer would work, while any of the (x,y) values would work.

OK, back to Dallas vs Philly!

Parents said their students are not even studying Angelou.

What about those left behind? Charity. If the parents want their children to do better, they’ll pull them out. Most private schools offer some form of financial aid.

The sad truth though is that most parents who put their kids in government schools don’t give a damn, or agree with what is happening. The ignorance argument in these days of email, internet news, etc. is a load of crap. The parents are accepting welfare in the form of childcare services and so long as the AFDP* continues, the government schools can do whatever they please.

Of course they needed new questions. Everyone knows the answers to the Detroit Math Test. http://www.joe-ks.com/archives/Detroit_High_School.htm

Report to the re-education camp. Your post is a microaggression against men who think they are women, women who think they are men, and all the other genders that might be self-identified as something other then men or women.

For Lurline’s sakes, why do parents allow this crap??? If I had children, they sure as heck wouldn’t be in public school.

The worksheet came from an external teacher resource website, which is a common tool used by the district, however, it was not vetted carefully at all by the teacher.

Typical Obama people... they don't vet anything or anybody.

I know it's been nearly two years since this thread was posted, but I just now stumbled upon it while searching for humorous math related stuff.

In any case, I looked at the math problem here again (~2 years later) and realized it actually IS a math problem in the sense that the student is apparently being asked to find on an x-y graph the point of intersection between two linear equations. Both of the equations can be expressed in the y = x format (a straight line on a graph).

Unless facts pertaining to Maya Angelou's personal life were common knowledge then?
