Update: news is saying this was from Point Mugu, which isn't possible. This originated miles off the west coast over the ocean and traveled upward and inland. It did explode over the coast near Mugu, so if anything Mugu shot it down. This video starts facing south west oriented to San Clemente island and by the time of explosion I was facing north west.
This nuclear missile launch followed SecDef Ash Carter's speech today announcing USA pushback against Russia.
A subtle reminder to the ChiComs, NKComs, ?, what a single US guided missile sub is capable of.
Their satellite and early warning systems may have shorted out watching/tracking this missile last night.
The Missile was fired from the USS Kentucky.
I figured it out. The Navy was just celebrating the Election of a Republican Governor in Kentucky.
Anyone know where it landed? Or hit?
Probably a coincidence The “airplane contrail” SLBM off the California coast was exactly five years ago.
Saw from South San Francisco a few minutes after 6pm. Spectacularly bright white exhaust and illuminated exhaust trail.
C’mon man, we ALL know it wuz da ay-lee-unz!
Could just have easily tested the D5 off the coast of FL and the downrange there. Has happened a lot, with the Cape there and people.... used to this. But not in the land of fruits and nuts.
And, it didn’t “explode” at 28 secs. That is stage separation and angular light view of the rocket. Anyone who watched any clear sky launch from the Cape, heading for orbit, knows this- well documented. 3 stages on the D5, btw. The 3rd stage is way, way up in a normal offensive trajectory.
Fairly certain we shared this with the Russkies in any case because their, and our satellites (and the chicoms) could see the launch.
IIRC it was an airliner said the government . . . .
It scared the shiite out of people on the west coast...could have caused heart attacks or head on collisions. But the Navy says they couldn't announce it because it was under tight security. Well, security was blown when it went off.
My bullsh!t meter is running out of battery charge on this one.
Shooting down another errant JLENS perhaps? ;)
