I don't terribly much expect it. Trump is the only one who might do these things or even be able to do them. I don't really see the country turning around much at all no matter who wins. A Conservative president will cause the pressure for a Convention to evaporate unless the new Pres. makes it a big deal. If the agencies are not abolished they will still run the government against the president's wishes and there will be constant battles between the president and the bureaucracy which will sabotage him mightily. The agencies will still be working for the Democrats. Ending Civil Service would make it easier to deal with that but the Civil Service is absolutely Holy with most of the citizenry. That is why it will take a Napoleon to do what must be done to get the country back. Then, if we get such a one, chances are he will be, in fact, a Napoleon. With Cruz as his VP perhaps, and it is a tiny perhaps, a Trump might do the necessary things and be kept in the Republic path by his Constitutional scholar VP. Might. Perhaps. If. it is pretty thin but I don't see even a hint of a possibility of recovery of the Republic with any other electoral outcome.
Frankly I think it is all academic anyway as I can't see the current regime permitting a Republican electoral victory. The vote manipulation and downright falsification is going to be on a whole new plane this cycle. Needless to say I am not optimistic.

I’m very optimistic. But not about politics or the state of governance. Frankly I see very little chance of our something approaching decent governance in my lifetime. But that’s just the nature of caesar and his realm. If you scratch the surface of evil, most times you’ll see caesar smiling back at you. Just evil incarnate.

The trick then is to minimize caesars influence in your life.
