I don’t think Carson lied. He may have spun it a little bit, but he didn’t lie. He wouldn’t get a full “scholarship”, but he wouldn’t have to pay tuition and board. I don’t think any of them do. He may have talked to Westmoreland, and Westmoreland may have encouraged him to apply, and told him that he’d have a good chance of getting in. Especially if Westmoreland puts in a word or two. Now, if he never talked to Westmoreland, that’s a whole different thing. But I think it’s possible to verify that. Carson may have a case.

I think that everyone knows that when you join the military, you don’t have to pay room and board.

I don’t think that Westmoreland offered him West Point entry by using scholarship terminology.

Not too long ago, Carson said he was offered a slot at West Point. At best, as his campaign says, he was a bit loose with his words.

Didn’t Carson criticize Trump for his lack of humility? That little West Point detail has nothing to do with how he turned out. Why even bother mentioning it, other than to reflect how sought after he was.
