Trolling and spamming every poster in this thread isn’t going to get you very far. Carson claimed he was offered a “full scholarship to West Point”.
It never happened.
Carson lied.
Travel from A to B to C, son, it isn’t hard.
I just want to know if any former SEAL’s were killed as a result of this.
Maybe CNN can look into that for us.
Point is the accusation is prove a lie. The real story about what happened is much less clear then the accusation.
At the end of my twelfth grade I marched at the head of the Memorial Day parade. I felt so proud, my chest bursting with ribbons and braids of every kind. To make it more wonderful, We had important visitors that day. Two soldiers who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor in Viet Nam were present. More exciting to me, General William Westmoreland (very prominent in the Viet Nam war) attended with an impressive entourage. Afterward, Sgt. Hunt introduced me to General Westmoreland, and I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners. Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point. I didnâââ‰â¢t refuse the scholarship outright, but I let them know that a military career wasn;t where I saw myself going.
He is a bit odd
I Agree. Right after they track down ANY of Barack Obama’s school records or Hillary’s missing funds from her stint at State.
Facts are present, you cling to the lie, that makes you liars.
If you don’t like that fact about you two being pointed out, stop lying.
doesn’t everyone who goes to west point get a ‘scholarship’? meaning doesn’t pay tuition, but has to serve in the military? If I was 17/18, I would consider no tuition a scholarship.
And Politico took all that time and energy to look through fifty year old West Point applications to prove that Carson didn't apply, which he already said and has never claimed.
Well done, Politico.
The bigger question is who was rifling through 50 year old West Point records for the sole purpose of making a political smear?
I’ve defended Carson on this up until I saw this FB post. If he actually wrote that post, then he lied. One cannot confuse being offered a slot.
If one of his campaign staffers is handling his FB posts as they do his Twitter feed, then I can dismiss the FB post.
I need more data on the FB post to make a conclusion.
LOL.
Carson is not conservative.
Re: the Army denial
They confirmed that Westmoreland did attend a banquet in Detroit honoring the medal winners a couple of months later.
Carson did not explicitly say the banquet was on the same day as the parade. He said “afterward.”
I believe he attended the banquet, met Westmoreland, and was offered a nomination by either Westmoreland or other military officials who attended. Carson was the top JROTC cadet in Detroit with excellent grades. Such an offer is totally believable and highly likely.
The Facebook post saying he was offered a slot is the problem for me. There can be no confusion on terminology there.
I think that by embellishing his chances at West Point and allowing everyone over time to believe he was accepted is actually more accurate. But still its fabrication by omission to clarify.
There is no such thing as a West Point scholarship. The education is free - if you get in.
There are a few ways an individual can obtain an "automatic" appointment - being the child of a CMH winner is one, and I cannot remember any others - but for the most part appointments are made only after one has been nominated, and then had one's nominations carefully and thoroughly vetted by the Academy in question.
Is that correct?
It is very simple;
* Carson said X.
* X is not true.
* Carson is a liar.
I’m sorry your preferred candidate turned out to be an unmitigated disaster, but lying about military service is kind of a conservative 3rd rail. That plus the Rick Perry-esque gaffes in the last few weeks are sending Carson down the river.
It’s not like he was ever a long-term threat to Trump anyways...the latest poll surges were always going to be a brief blip and a fade...but it’s good to get him out of the race sooner rather than later.
Military men called Rush today and said that during the Vietnam Nam War it was easy for a young Black man with Carson’s to enter West Point because their were slots open for them. This electronic lynching has made me consider supporting Dr. Carson because he has the right enemies.
By my name and tagline you can tell who I support. I am now a fan of the good Dr. I don’t like political assassinations.
The writer of the hit-piece on Dr. Carson—Kyle Cheney— can be reached at kcheney@politico.com
I sent him a lovely note. I suggest the rest of you do, too. Let’s circle the wagons on this. We need to send politico a message—and all the rest of the left wing media. This is BS, and bigger than your particular favorite candidate. Dr. Carson is a good man, who has saved many, many lives.
I’d punch this asshat in the face, hard as I can, if I ever meet him.
I agree 100%. It is not unreasonable to think that he has staffers handling his FB posts as he does with his Twitter feed. If so, the choice of words would be their mistake not his. He has never used those words himself that I can find.
LOL
