Inside job? UK investigators believe bomb in cargo hold brought down Russian jet

British investigators examining the deadly crash of a Russian passenger jet in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula last weekend believe that the plane was brought down by a bomb placed in the cargo hold, according to multiple British media reports.

The BBC reported that while officials in London have not completely ruled out the possibility that Metrojet 9268 crashed due to a technical fault, they now view such a scenario as highly unlikely.

Sky News reported that British intelligence operatives uncovered chatter Wednesday during a review of intercepted conversations following the Oct. 31 disaster that suggested a plot to bomb a passenger plane in the region. The Daily Telegraph reported that the conversations involved Islamist militants known to U.S. and British intelligence, while the Times of London reported that the tone and content of the intercepted conversations between militants in Syria and Sinai convinced officials that the bomb had been carried on board by a passenger or member of the airport's ground staff.

It’s too bad they were listening to the chatter of known terrorists only after the crash

What does the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder say? If it were a bomb, the aircraft would have been flying normally until the explosion. Cockpit conversations would have been routine.

If it were a mechanical malfunction, cockpit conversations, audible warning signals, and flight data would indicate developing problems.

What's taking Russia so long to examine the FDR and CVR?

Excellent point. My thought was right away that a bomb was brought on to the plane and put on the cargo area by an airport employee that was connected to ISIS.

Again, quarterbacking on Monday morning from a distance.

Actually the most plausible theory advanced so far. The plane bursting from the pressurization, due to a weakness of the fuselage structure (attributed to an incompletely repaired accident some years ago) sounds a lot less likely.

The Russians are the most interested party here, even more so than the Egyptians. Tourist visitations to Sharm-el-Sheikh will probably drop to about ZERO, as airline transportation is now virtually suspended. And there is no other good way to get there in anything like a timely manner, as no rail lines or major passenger seaport facilities have been developed.

If in fact it is ISIS operatives that deliberately baited the Russian bear, their lifetimes in Syria may well be measured in days, and even escape from Syria to Iraq may not be much of a reprieve. Putin does not respect the same “rules of engagement” the US military has had imposed upon them.

Take on fuel and bomb load, fly to objectives, drop and return to reload and refuel, as many times a day as necessary to obliterate every depot, every campsite, every convoy, and every support facility of ISIS. Of course, there may be considerable collateral damage, but one thing for sure will happen - virtually all the oil now moving out of the Middle East into world markets will stop, and the remaining major supplier to Europe will be - the Russian Federation. And Russia badly needs the revenue.

As far as the answer to the question “What will Putin do?” It doesn’t matter what caused the plane to go down, ISIS took credit for it.

The bear’s fur has thus been ruffled, and action, not words, is what will ensue.

I’m expecting something with a retaliatory, punitive flavor. Unabashedly unconcerned for collateral damage. Not involving nukes, perhaps conventional weapons, possibly something more “personal”, involving ground troops, and known ISIS leadership. We can also expect the death toll to exceed ten times that of the number of Russian dead. Perhaps more.

What would Obama do? Don’t make me laugh.

The Russians are in no hurry to let the Satanists know they are getting ready to meet their maker.

So with your scenario, who has the most to gain from this incident (assuming it was a bomb)? Russia?

The proper Russian response is to make the price so high for ISIS that they never consider doing this again. I have no doubt the Russians will give it their best shot. Good luck for a successful effort.

Same reason it takes us to so long. You don’t want to compromise an ongoing investigation till you have the facts together.

Of course, the Rus might just be making sure they have all the relatives of the bombers in hand before announcing so.

They're not releasing criminal info on this latest mohamicide. I suppose they don't want to spook the moes that did it into hiding.

Not plausible at all. If you look at the pictures of the tail section you will see the aft pressure bulkhead is intact. If the cabin wall suffered a catastrophic failure as shown in the photos every A 320-321 variant needs to be grounded immediately as there is a serious design flaw. It didn’t happen, it was an external force i.e. bomb.

You’ve been pushing this meme the entire time, what’s your agenda?

Makes a person wonder if it was air pressure (a drop at a specific altitude) activated.

To listen beforehand would have amounted to "profiling" and under the 0bama regime's rules of political correctness, would've been racist.

Killing innocent human beings by blowing an airplane out of the sky with a bomb is the absolute nadir of cowardice.

Consider what happened in Lebanon back in the early 80s when they killed that Russian embassy KGB type and multiply it by a factor of 300+ for what is going to happen and shortly.

You make complete sense sir. My neighbor asked me why the rooskies were going into Syria and gave her a simple answer...control. I considered that the flight bombing could have possibly been a false flag op. The Russians did it in Moscow some time ago by blowing up a building. It seems as though this was indeed a terrorist act, and yes, British intelligence is pretty great in that part of the world.
