Donald Trump: If Ben Carson hosted ‘SNL’ nobody would watch
Yahoo Political News ^ | 11/5 | Matt Bai

Donald Trump is prepping for his upcoming role as host of “Saturday Night Live” the only way he knows how: by boasting about his ratings — and insulting his Republican opponents.

The real estate mogul, who was replaced as host of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” following his controversial comments about Mexican immigrants, says it’s no surprise NBC asked him to host “SNL.”

“You’re never at war when you get great ratings,” Trump said Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day.” “Nobody gets ratings like me.”

these TDS'ers slam the message...but don't ever actually take the time to research what Trump has said/done policy wise.

Couldn't agree more. Trump has addressed the specifics of making Mexico pay for the wall numerous times, by adjusting such things as the flow of money out of this country from illegals sending it back, by adjusting the U.S. trade deficit with Mexico, by imposing a tariff on goods from American companies that relocate to Mexico, and various other means of trimming their fat within the financial structure of whatever is exchanged between the countries, whether funds, tourists, workers, etc.

imposing tariffs on goods from Mexico does not force Mexico to pay those taxes; it forces the U.S. consumers who are buying those goods to pay the taxes.

Which, in turn, causes consumers to buy lower-priced products from competing vendors, making it riskier and less profitable for companies to leave America for cheap labor. Short term bump in consumer prices, longer-term market correction as consumers choose other suppliers.

You know, Trump is a very very funny guy. He’s got a great sense of humor that is very common to those of us in that age group. I’m 64, but we connect. He’s really in that pre-hippie straight laced conservative crowd. THere’s no doubt that he’s been a conservative all his life, but learned to get along for the good of his family and business.

That’s all right, chump, I never watch it anyway, especially when “hosted” by bad-haired egomaniacal liberals masquerading as conservatives.

Wow, and you're complaining about his ad hominems? Truly, I thought better of you.

Points to consider:

There is no possible argument to the fact that his upcoming role on SNL will be hosting the show, as he has done on several occasions before. It's a well-defined role in a long-established format, undeserving of quotation marks, unlike, say, "gay marriage."

He has made no secret of being neither a liberal nor a conservative, but a businessman and financier whose specific skills are very much needed in a nation whose economy has been wrecked by abuses of power in DC. He has said repeatedly that political correctness is ruining this country; and that the entire system of partisanship funded and fueled by special interests and donors is corrupt and corrupting. He is a paradigm-breaker, not an idealogue. And he has demonstrated an ability to grow and change with new information. Some people remain fixed all their lives; others are dynamic and can adapt to new conditions without disintegrating. He is an adapter, not a political authoritarian. It's like the difference between an architect and an engineer. One deals on paper with what could be. The other deals with what can be, given conditions on the ground.

He would be considered egomaniacal only if his displays of ego were indeed based on mania rather than accomplishment. Yet he has accomplished the American Dream and is fighting for others to be able to continue to do so as well. If you have not gone to the Trump International web site to get a look at the megabillions in real estate holdings far beyond his personal wealth that he has created around the world, by all means do so. Reality television has been more like a hobby to him than a main focus or income stream. Through his wide dealings in commerce, regulation, construction, international relations, finance, taxation, and human behavior in the marketplace, he has been able to see clearly the last decades' destruction of the free market system and all the other aspects of the freedom we once took for granted in this country, and has spoken of the dangers of overregulation as one of its pernicious effects strangling our economy and endangering our children's future. Likewise he has excoriated Obamacare's looming disaster on the economy. For you in your profession to sling around words like "mania" is unbecoming as well as inaccurate.

I get it that you do not appreciate his personality or style. But he is not like any other person. He is who he is. And he has skills that are desperately needed right now, and are not present in such wide array in any one else running at this time. As my Italian mother used to say, "You have to take the bad with the good."

Even if he chooses Cruz as VP, that would not be near enough to rehabilitate himself. He'd have to promise to hang himself to death the day after the election.

Seriously?

sitetest....bud....what happened??

We just had a lovely conversation, the other day, about how important it is to not berate candidates you don’t support, with nothing but emotional insults. It was a great dialogue. I truly enjoyed our conversation.

C’mon....you deserve better than to hold this bitterness.

Without referring back to our conversation, I believe I said we should avoid insulting each other. However, candidates who offer nothing more than insults to other candidates deserve no consideration.

This crap of “he’s slow, he’s a loser” is unforgivable and only speaks to the shamefully abysmal moral character of the speaker. Dr. Carson is more innately intelligent, morally more decent than a certain bad-haired egomaniac could hope to be in his dreams. There’s only so much lipstick you can put on the pig, and by his words and actions, chump trump shows he’s the pig.

Ah, geez.

Carson, more intelligent than Trump?!

Ok, I won’t get in to a spitting match with you. We’ll just have to agree to disagree, FRiend.

(Btw, you do realize that Trump’s intelligence is off the charts high, don’t you? Something like 156. That puts him in the 99.9905490555 percentile. Mensa/Triple Nine Society territory.)

chump trump’s attacks on Dr. Carson are ad hominem attacks. My descriptions of chump trump are highly accurate... decriptions. Dr. Carson is brilliant. He regularly stood 20 hours during surgery. He took “hard cases” from all over the world. He managed a department of the no. 1 hospital in the country mentoring and managing some of the best pediatric neurosurgeons in the world, as well as myriad nurses, techs, aides, and administrators.

Calling this man names shows that trump is junk.

To call a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon slow, low-energy and a loser is so unforgivably stupid as to demonstrate the intellectual vaccuousness and moral filth of the speaker.

But he is quite popular. I accept that he may decieve enough people to be elected president.

I will not be decieved.

He HAS posed as a conservative. What do you think his 180 degree about faces on abortion, the 2nd Amendment, taxes, healthcare, and IMMIGRATION are about???

But it is Kelo that gives the insight to his character. He is a statist. He sees no limits to government power, no liberty, no freedom may resist the power of the unlimited leviathan. If the Powers That Be say a thing should be done, then no assertion of liberty can withstand it. But 5he Founders wished to restrain the beast, writing a constitution that said to government, “this far, and no farther.”

By a substantial amount.

That not to say that in his element, trump is unskilled. Not at all. He has been a fairly successful heir to a fortune.

But in comparison to a BRAIN SURGEON. One of the greatest brain surgeons of his era?? A guy with over 100 publications, most of them highly scholarly?

I used to administer IQ tests. I got pretty good guessing them. I’d say trump is about 115 to 120. Which is just right for being the heir to a real estate fortune, a real estate developer, a crony capitalist, a TV personality. Dr Carson is likely 140+.

If you buy Trumps book you might want to consider
1 loaning to friends
2 donate your copy ( or buy multiple copies) to donate to school library or public library
3 Make your copy available to your county chair person

Who told you that? trump?? Is that 156 IQ like trump’s $10 billion? Which turned out to be less than half that amount? So is his non-inflated, non-ego-adjusted IQ really more like 70? Is that what explains the stupid stuff thrown at Dr. Carson??

I hear that you are upset and angry. I share your high opinion of Dr. Carson and have been privileged to meet him and his family a couple of times.

For all we know, they have worked out a “good cop, bad cop media strategy between themselves — they are neighbors and long acquaintances in West Palm Beach, to give the voters a clear differentiation of their approach.

Failing that, any American president at this juncture in history is going to have to take horrendous abuse from islamist leaders screaming “death to America”, from the left wing press and global social media. If Carson can’t stand up to some schoolyard neener neener, he won’t be able to do the job. Have faith in your candidate, who has doubtless put on the whole armor of God to the best of his understanding.

Another child in my son’s school used bad language and called names. The principal opined that the boys were hardening each other up, and that to a degree, it is a male thing. As a mother, this was hard for me to watch, but it all worked out, and mine rose to it and became a leader all the years since. In its own way, Trump is hardening Ben Carson up, and if Carson rises to it, he will prove his mettle with the American people that he is able to deal with hostile world leaders. In that sense, Trump is doing Carson a favor.

Let it roll out. It will not be the end of the republic because either of these worthy men are elected. May the best man win.

I have no doubt that Dr. Carson can “take it.” The question is whether the girlie-boy trump can.

But more to the point, I often hold those who call our presidents names, or shout “death to America” in wildly low esteem.

Ditto Dr. Carson’s stupid attacker. It makes him sound like a dammocrap. Or an ayotollah.

From Trump's new book:

"Construction of the wall needs to start as soon as possible. And Mexico has to pay for it.

Let me repeat that, one way or another: Mexico will pay for it.

How? We could increase the various border fees we charge. We could increase the fees on temporary visas. We could even impound remittance payments derived from illegal wages. Foreign governments could tell their embassies to start helping, otherwise they risk troubled relations with America.

If necessary we could pay for the wall through a tariff or cut foreign aid to Mexico or simply make it clear to the Mexican government that it is to the benefit of their very profitable- for them- relationship with the United States to pay for it. But one way or another, they are going to pay for it."

LOL...no, unfortunately I don’t have a direct line to Trump.

And, you know he is worth what he published....$9-10B. If not, I’m sure you can enlighten all of us with a link that proves his true wealth.

I do like to research and read. Here’s a couple of things that back this (IQ number) up....
