I will go you one better. I gave up on NR in the Presidential election of 1968 involving Nixon, Humphrey, and spoiler George Wallace. I began to notice NR was devoting a huge amount of time attacking Wallace instead of Humphrey. Though not a Wallace supporter I thought this most curious as Humphrey and the Democrats were (and are) far greater enemies of America than Wallace would ever be. Indeed, Wallace's support was nowhere near that of collectivist Liberal Humphrey's and yet NR focused so much more on the former. Ended my subscription and never renewed it.
Maybe Buckley was overcompensating for being accused of being a racist.
