There is some talk right now about a tight labor market limiting economic growth, but Merkel's stand is much more about German guilt and historical traumas than about economics.
That said, much of this phony 'immigration love' is a desire for cheap degraded labor. When a Muslim child's in the German school system that child is always shunted to become a base common laborers - no matter what the IQ. Germans haven't given up their contempt for people different than they are - people they see as 'less'... Now Germans look down on Muslims... they've changed the ‘victim of choice’... that's not impressive.
I know this is horrible but I don't care what happens to Germany... it's a prejudice I have to work on.
