I like the fact Hawaii is a state. I get to go on a tropical vacation without having to go through customs.

Not for us West Coat folks. Plus you’re not nearly so likely to get shot in Hawaii as you are in FL. FL is the biggest hog at the federal trough by a wide measure. Florida takes more federal dollars than any state in the union and gives almost nothing back. But from what I’ve seen in Hawaii, they are probably a close second as a “kept” state.
