I’m retired Army, and this sounds great to me. It includes the one provision that will truly make a difference — competition. “Under a Trump Administration, all veterans eligible for VA health care can bring their veteran’s ID card to any doctor or care facility that accepts Medicare to get the care they need immediately...”
I’d prefer it to say any licensed MD, DO, etc., but the point is being able to sidestep the VA if they don’t respond. Make them compete.
It's probably because a private sector physician who doesn't accept Medicare isn't under any obligation to accept new patients unless he wants to.
The number of health care providers to Medicare is shrinking. Wait times are increasing. So trump is going to dump another poorly-served population into a system already breaking.

Many providers will not accept vets because it’s too hard to get paid.
I’ve been treated outside the VA system twice and I had to help them get paid. Now, with that said, it was their fault. When I checked in I gave them the address where to send the bill and how to bill it. They were too stupid to follow my directions. Eventually they listened to what I had to say and got paid within two weeks.
But they see it as a simple fact that they won’t get paid.
