Atlas Shrugged, though still being made into movies - I think only first two parts have been made?
This is where we are and where we are heading, IMHO.
Even the language of the candidates sometimes parrot the lines in the book.
All three have been released.
Parts 2 and 3 suck.
It helped that, I believe, Richard Burton was dying when he filmed it and looked like the wrath of God.

Solid British style documentary wrapped around Reagan’s saber rattling and placing short range nuclear missiles in the UK and specifically around Sheffield. As games are played and buttons are pushed.
I wound up watching The Road last night based on some of the comments here. Dang that is one bleak movie, but it has a few hints of hope which is what makes it interesting. There’s some good commentary on the mystery of the missing thumbs and a few other of the movie’s unanswered questions here:
I wonder how many people killed themselves after watching that movie, or during the movie come to think about it.
THX 1138 was his most creative film with Star Wars being his most successful and 2nd most creative. From there on Lucas lost his mind, just more evidence that the cronyism of IP law has ruined those it was meant to protect.

If it wasn’t so anti-Reagan that would have been a great film.
The key to all these dystopias is crazies are treated as normal and normal/moral/God-fearing people as crazies. I think we’re about there.
The only thing that can save us is the “gods of the copybook headings”. They’ll show up soon enough.
