The reporter who was interviewing President Obama when he famously swatted a fly is suddenly the buzz of DC, thanks to a New York Post gossip item about his marriage.

According to unnamed "spies" for Page Six, CNBC Washington correspondent and New York Times writer John Harwood has split from his wife Frankie Blackburn, and it's all because of an alleged romance with Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.)

Do you remember how short? Real is like a tech zombie company. You ought to see their offices in Seattle. They’re nice. What props that company up?

I really don't remember exactly how long but I remember it being fairly short. I don't know if it was a sweetheart deal or incredibly good timing but I do remember it being linked to the rumors about her personal behavior, implying, of course, a sweetheart deal.

I wasn't that well connected in either politics or the high-tech industry at the time. The fact that I had heard these rumors must have meant that they had pretty good circulation at the time. Like most humans, I have a morbid curiosity about rumors and listen to them but if they are not collaborated in a fairly short period of time, I tend to disregard them. As a result, a lot of the details get forgotten.
