When Letitia âTishâ Rawles was ordained as a Catholic priest in April, it was the culmination of a lifetimeâs worth of yearningâand a practical fix to ministering to the sick and dying at her Cincinnati assisted living facility, where it was often hard to find a priest to administer last rites.
âIâve wanted to be a priest since... probably the fourth grade, as soon as I started attending Catholic school,â she told The Daily Beast. âI always wondered why there were no women at the altar, only men.â
But Rawles didnât know any female priests then, so she became a nun despite feeling the âdeeper callingâ of the priesthood. âAnd Iâve loved being a nun,â she said.

She was not excommunicated for becoming a priest. She was likely excommunicated for claiming she was a priest. She was not and could never actually be one.
Well that's more or less the point of contention. She didn't and she couldn't, any more than Bruce Jenner can become a woman.
I’m confused , is it Male or Female ? You see she ,but it’s really a Man in Drag these days
Is it possible for her to be an RC deacon instead?
No.
“The Episcopal Church Welcomes You”. You can play at being a priest over there.
Who did the ordaining??
Some odd-ball organization. It wasn't somebody from within the church with the authority to ordain anyone.
Regrettably, there are also “Lutheran” congregations that would welcome her brand of idiocy.
She was probably not really a N-U-N either, but an N-U-T.
There are an inordinate number of these typo-looking symbols popping up on many threads, including on some of my own replies. Is that part of the ongoing attack on FR?
This reminds me of the story of Nadab and Abihu. I wonder if she ever heard of them, or understood what they did wrong.
“Letitia” - for real?
Though I think Missouri Synod tends to be more conservative in its practices.
