CNBC Disaster Debate: Full Republican Debate Grades
The Daily Wire ^ | 10/28/2015 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 10/29/2015 4:24:33 AM PDT by grimalkin

In what had to rank as the worst presidential debate in modern history, CNBC anchors berated, cut off, and skewed the words of Republican candidates over the course of two hours on Wednesday night. In spite of - and in the case of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Chris Christie, among others, because of - that horrifically biased moderation, Republicans emerged looking better for wear. They needed to show they had elbows, and many of them did.

Without further ado, here are the debate grades.

Rush is a pretty tech savvy guy. I’m sure he DVR’d one or the other.

Rubio's ideas, btw, about the advertising 180 days and no pay reductions for new hires with H1B's are approaching satisfactory to me provided they are honest efforts. They must be BROADLY advertised, and they must be based on the actual wages within that field for that firm over the past 4 or 5 years, and those must be the wages paid to the WORKER and not the worker + referral company/agency. Finally, no H1B's should be offered in the STEM field if the STEM field has 5% or higher unemployment.

Those are good thoughts in principle but together they form a set of qualifications so complex that it is unenforceable without an enormously intrusive bureaucracy. IMO, they need to be immigrants or not. If they want to become Americans and have a job offer an American can't fill, they are welcome.

You don’t seem to like Trump, but we agreed for a while, I think, that Walker was a solid guy. He played his cards wrong and he’s out. He knew it, and that’s what’s so good about the guy. He doesn’t waste time wasting time.

Who is your Walker now? Cruz?

I bet he’s closer-to or over 450.

He had lost some before he started campaigning but he appears to have gotten part of it back. Maybe still under 400.

I was never a Walker fan except as governor of Wisconsin (at which he has been fantastic), as CW will attest. His sense of how far he can go to dis-empower the left by cutting off the money step-by-step is awesome, but his immigration stance was unsupportable, even after his trip to the high cave to meet Sessions. Even so, I defended Walker upon occasion, simply because don't like people who attack a decent conservative with whom they disagree on something else. It's simply a matter of justice.

I think Trump is a master of deception, a Pied Piper leading the lemmings over the cliff, and will do something entirely different than what his supporters believe he will. I believe that even if he could deport 1/10-15 US residents he'd let the vast bulk of them (the non-criminals) right back in, a boomerang amnesty if you will per the Kay Bailey Hutchison immigration bill that Freepers rejected as amnesty in 2007. Things would be better, but the schools and unemployment situation would continue to worsen and the Democrats would have another 10 million voters. So he's the closet Hegelian Dialectic on immigration.

I'm in hold-my-nose mode and have not selected a candidate to support. I would support Cruz, but he's made some terrible mistakes in judgment as a Senator. If he admits to those mistakes (TPA, H1B, and the Corker bill), I'd be all in. I'd love to advise him on regulatory matters, especially about the damage being done to land and sea by the environmental movement and what the alternatives might be to undo that destructive leviathan.

Cruz’s mistakes were understandable except for the Corker bill. His explanation was something about being able to offer amendments. Still doesn’t add up.

The H1B comes from his immigrant dad. His mind needs changing on this one.

The TPA says he was lied to. I believe him, and since he’s a freshman senator, I’m willing to overlook that one.

With Trump, I’ve watched him on and off for years. This is the same guy, so I don’t think there’s any act here.

I consider him the most likely to actually blow up the GOP establishment. You know and I know in our honest moments with ourselves, that all of these other guys are going to have to go to some really rich people and guarantee them something in secret.

I might as well have the rich guy, since that’s the case.

Why the RNC agrees to this abuse every time is a mystery.

Masochism is NOT a winning game.

It may have been correct tactically, but it was a huge mistake politically. Lee had it right.

The H1B comes from his immigrant dad. His mind needs changing on this one.

The facts will get to him eventually. The guy is so damned sharp that he has a hard time getting out of his head.

With Trump, I’ve watched him on and off for years. This is the same guy, so I don’t think there’s any act here.

The backer of socialized medicine, and employer of hordes of illegals? That Trump? I have yet to hear him say that he has absolute proof that every one of the hotel maids, golf course groundskeepers, and construction laborers he or his subs employ is legal or they will be fired.

Show me the data.

You know and I know in our honest moments with ourselves, that all of these other guys are going to have to go to some really rich people and guarantee them something in secret.

If 10 million voters send fifty bucks, he'd get all the contributions he wants with no strings. It's doable.

“Preibus is at fault for allowing this debate in Colorado hosted by Liberal vermin.”

He should be one of the first to go after Trump becomes president! The GOP has had a succession of worthless leaders with Priebus only being the last.

It won’t happen and 10 million sending 50 bucks is only 500 million. That’s half of what will be spent.

Besides the fact that it won’t happen.

Like I said, they’re all going to the super rich guys. You know it; I know it.

I’m sure he doesn’t know who’s employed across his properties. I suspect he’d readily support e-verify for everyone. But I don’t hold him or anyone guilty at this point without e-verify. I had some roofers work on my house 2 months ago. Could some of those have been illegal? Maybe. But how would I know?

E-Verify made compulsory is an unconstitutional Federal work permit. The data is there and Trump knows it. If he's hiring illegals then he's breaking the law. If he's campaigning about getting illegals out of the country, he can set an example right now.

He won't, and you know it.

“He” is not hiring people. Unknown folks in many parts of the country are making decisions based on the information they have. Hopefully, they wouldn’t knowingly hire an illegal. I can’t imagine anyone saying that they support such a thing.

It’s like saying that the CEO of Holiday Inn hires the maids at the Hoboken South Holiday Inn. He doesn’t have a clue who gets hired, and I’m betting the company policy is not to hire illegals.

But local managers might do so for a variety of reasons to get over.

“He” is not hiring people.

Yes he is. He sends the directive to his personnel departments. He hires the lawyers who write the contracts. Any such stipulations are at his personal option. If the illegals are there they are his responsibility.

No, I fully disagree. CEO’s don’t hire, so I know that owner’s don’t.

And it is the guy at the point of the hire who makes a mistake/unethical decision.

I’m betting that Trump policies do not allow hiring illegals.

They issue the directive to their subordinates or not. The Donald clearly did not.
