Believe me, the commercials and more importantly selling the commercials for a lot of money, is all the networks cares about. That's why they love to spice up elections as "horse races". And if there is not enough drama, they cook up a poll or a controversy de jour to spice it up. Ever notice how very little the media actually talks about the ideas or platforms of a given candidate? It's really tedious.
