Donald Trump May Need New Playbook Against Surging Ben Carson
NBC News ^ | 10/27/15 | Lee Ann Caldwell

As polls show Ben Carson catching - and even surpassing - Donald Trump, the brash businessman's attacks against his closest challenger have intensified. His remarks could backfire for being redundant, vague and hypocritical.

While Trump has been known for direct and personal verbal lobs against his opponents in the campaign, this is the first time he has found himself faced with another outsider who has risen above him in some recent key polls. And his strategy so far has yet to have any impact on Carson as the former pediatric neurosurgeon has refused to take the bait.

On MSNBC's Morning Joe Tuesday, Trump was quick to question Carson's appeal, insisting that under scrutiny, it won't continue. A "a lot of things will come out" about Carson's record, Trump said.

Trump challenged Carson's strict anti-abortion position, which Trump said wasn't always the same.

"Ben was pro-abortion not so long ago as everybody has told me," Trump said.

Trump was most likely referring to Carson's tenure as a pediatric neurosurgeon when he referred pregnant patients with genetic abnormalities to doctors who also perform abortions - a decision Carson defends pointing to the importance of "qualified medical supervision."

But the problem with Trump's statement is that his own record is not very consistent. In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" in 1999, Trump said that while he "hates" the idea of abortion he is "very pro-choice."

I would say the most pertinent issue to the Presidency is the teaching of Pacifism. Until the draft and Vietnam made it sometimes impossible, SDA’s only served in noncombatant roles in the military.

The teaching of Pacifism in my opinion would make it impossible for Carson to be an effective Commander in Chief. When asked about how he would deal with ISIS, he said he would first try to work through economic measures.

Carson’s persona is one of meekness, which is perceived by our enemies as weakness. I believe we would be in more danger because those who wish to destroy us would be emboldened.

That may have something to do with Carson’s numbers but if it were the total reason Ted Cruz should be running number two in the Iowa polls. God knows he’s an evangelist with a pastor Dad.

I still think Trumps numbers at Iowa rallies will morph into actual votes in the Iowa caucus. Trump also has Chuck Laudner running his ground campaign and he’s supposed to be the best.

If you watched Trump’s Iowa rally last night he really changed it up and his interaction with a couple of wounded warriors was very genuine and compelling. Mr. GG2 had tears in his eyes.

When you're in Christ Jesus everyday is a day of rest. You don't have to wait for any one particular day. If you believe you must wait for a particular day to keep the Sabbath, that is works, and you will never please God with your works.

I gather with other Christians on Sunday, not because there is some commandment, or some rule I want to follow. I gather on Sunday because it is the first day of the week, and I like putting God first in everything I do. When I wake up in the morning I like putting God first, so I read the word and pray, God first in all things is always the best attitude to have.

The Bible says we have six days to do all our work. Every day is not a day of rest.

I’m a trump fan myself.

I’m also an evengelical.

Trump has not attacked Cruz.

I’m saying about Trump that he’s attacking Carson with a very weak hand in the eyes of evangelicals because he thinks the Presbyterian church is the same church as it was 50 years ago. Same too with the 7th day Adventists. Neither is true.

I'm sorry you don't have daily rest, perhaps you should take up the yoke of Jesus Christ and learn of Him

Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

You are presumptuous.

Really? Is this from the same person who wrote?

"I do not have the authority to kick any Commandments to the curb."

Not only that, but he’s said that he wanted to tax individual savers heavily on their assets while eliminating corporate taxes.
