(CNN)The video shows a South Carolina school resource officer standing over a student, seated at her desk. He puts his arm near her neck, then yanks her backward. The desk tips over and the student crashes onto the floor.
The uniformed officer doesn't let go, sharply tugging the student toward the front of the classroom. She flies out of her desk and slides several feet across the floor.
"Give me your hands," the officer says.
His is the only voice heard. Other students sit calmly and quietly, one of them covering his face with his hand.
Yet many haven't been so quiet since the footage out of Columbia, South Carolina, surfaced.
Some have defended the officer, many pointing out that the video isn't complete. It doesn't show what happened before, including what the student did and how many times authorities -- a teacher, a school administrator and finally the officer, Richland County Sheriff's Deputy Ben Fields -- had asked her to get up.

This future Welfare Brood Mare just got her first lesson about respecting authority.
“Welfare Brood Mare” is a very good description of her kind.
With apologies to real brood mares.
OT, but anyone else getting a “Reported Attack Page” from Firefox when clicking on the other thread on this? It’s happening on several threads here.
A lot will depend on the officer’s motives. Maybe he was just trying to prepare her for the challenges of modern marriage.

This little BT-1000 dindoo nuffin will find a nice cool jail cell in her future.
That’s true, and it’s a problem. Who knows, this could be a bona fide example of excessive force, or completely justified.
The only thing we know for sure is that we will absolutely, never, ever learn the truth from the MSM.

Animal Control is a rough game.
I get a malware warning occasionally when I click on links. I blame Obama.
Carol Costello of CNN suggested the teacher should have sent all the other students to the library and talked to the girl one-on-one.
Of course, Ms. Costello is nuts.
COMPLY, DON’T DIE !!!
Advice to administrators/law enforcement: when confronted with a similar classroom situation: grab the desk containing the non-compliant resident and drag it out of the classroom into the hallway. Then close the door, and administer any necessary force outside of view of any cameras trying to help someone achieve hero status.
I watched the video. I’m not outraged. Teenaged kids are a pain in the azz on their best day. I quickly realized I did not have the patience for it. I went to teach college.
I do think it probably could have been handled a little differently. When the bell rang the girl would have gotten up to go to the next class and she could have been quickly and without much disruption snagged in the hallway and faced whatever the punishment is for willful disobedience at the school. Now she has some street cred with her classroom buddies and she likely won’t face punishment due to the fu fer all that’s occurring.
Its too bad because that kid definitely needs some discipline.
It certainly doesn’t look good, but three people asked her over and over to leave the class. She refused. How are they supposed to get her out?
Were they required to surrender and leave her in the class? Would anyone in the school have any authority afterward? She brought this down on herself.
It would look hideous to see a person get shot by the police when he refused to drop his gun. But again, what are the options? This incident is some steps down, but the principle is the same. Civil authority has to be upheld, or it is anarchy.
He should have taken the phone out of her hand and told her you can get it at the end of the school day. If she resisted then take her down.
Rather than judge just on the video I will wait.
Holy cow...FRUITCAKE, I reckon.
Yeah I’m outraged at that girl too.
