Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu (R) said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump can "win anywhere if the electorate doesnt wake up.
Sununu, who served as the first White House chief of staff for former President George H. W. Bush, argued on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports" that Trump will likely disappoint supporters before 2016. If Republicans go on to nominate someone that can govern the country in a way they want and make the policies they want, they ought to pay attention to the issues that the candidates support, he said.
Trump is in favor of single-payer healthcare, Sununu said. Thats absolutely something Republicans hate.
Trump likes eminent domain, he continued. Most conservative Republicans cant stand that.
So they are going to have to start looking at the issues so that they dont get frustrated by the results of winning, perhaps, and getting somebody who is just as bad as [President] Obama on the issues they care about, he added.

Wanna bet?
I see conservatives doing to Trump what liberals did with BHO. BHO was a blank slate that his fans could write anything they want on. Trump has an even blankier slate. The fact is, he has come out for single payer
Yeah John, methinks people ARE waking up.
5.56mm
ie, Cross the aisle, compromise with the democrats, cave-in, give-in, surrender, give them what they want, etc.
I have been working on the theory...it goes sort of like this.
The GOPe is the big money donors.
The GOP Party apparatchiks have to subordinate the desires of it’s conservative base to the desires of the wealthy donors.
Those wealthy donors are necessary because the base doesn’t contribute sufficiently for the party to be able to operate without those wealthy donors.
Yet the “base” refuses to donate to the party because the party does not advance the base’s interests. And G.H.W. Bush was a glimmering example, followed by all of the Boner, McConnell types who were elected in 1994 and turned into outright cowards while impeaching Clintoon, and went further limp the day Obastard was elected.
If we want to get rid of the wealthy donors who detest us, we need to support the current or create another party to oppose them where the funding is provided by the base, and the party operatives are copacetic with the goals of the base.
An appropriate metaphor escapes me here, but I think the party abandoned the base, before the base financially abandoned the party.
We will argue with Trump where we have differences. Those differences may be considerable but he is someone who is going to get good advice, listen, and make decisions that are best for this country. He sees the big picture and those things that are destroying the country.
Thank God America IS awakening.
He's got it backwards, those who are awake will vote Donald.
They're running out of options. I suspect it'll be insiders just like Sununu who'll be covertly supporting Hillary in the end, in a last ditch effort to stop Trump.
“I see conservatives doing to Trump what liberals did with BHO. BHO was a blank slate that his fans could write anything they want on.”
That sounds so intellectual. I have heard Rush parrot that crap, and it is crap.
“Trump has an even blankier slate. The fact is, he has come out for single payer”
Well, according to Trump himself, he has not “come out” single payer. If he did, the liberals would love him, they would be shouting that from the rooftops. They would be daily rubbing that in the face of his supporters. It is only Cruz supporters on this site that try to spread that.
I support Trump, not because for what I can imagine he stands for, but for what he has been preaching for about 25 years (documented) and for his stand on immigration.
The GOPe royalty certainly is in meltdown mode. They just can’t understand why the peons aren’t bowing to them. I love it.
Mr. Sunnunu,
Trump is the result of people waking up to your Rino lies.
The Republicans finally have a candidate that is looking out for the people, is loved by Republicans and independents (some dems) and the GOPe are doing everything in their power to take him out.
I saw the interview...the GOPe is in total melt down
I said it was a theory...not a demand to contribute.
I won’t give the GOP a damned dime. I do contribute to a specific candidate, like I did for Cruz.
This is where the demonRATS have their party in lock step. The wealthy give to the party, and the peons give money to the party to advance the same interests.
