For those familiar with Cruz’s refusal to give in to the Bush administration re; Medellin vs. Texas, it comes as no surprise that W has no use for Ted.

Bush wanted to side with the World Court in overturning the conviction of an illegal alien who participated in the rape and murder of two teenaged girls in Texas.

The girls were raped orally, vaginally, and anally for over an hour. One of the girls had her teeth knocked out; one was strangled to death with a belt, the other with her own shoelaces.

To be fair, IIRC that Kabuki dance had to do with “World Court” idea of due process. No consular access prior to trial in this case.

Such ideas wouldn’t even be possible if it were not already the Western mode (in turn inherited from Christianity) to bend over backwards to be fair.

Another Kabuki dance typically goes on with people who oppose such considerations: they point out the heinousness of the accused crime. That is an orthogonal issue to due process. And it’s a red herring. Would it be any different if the accused crime were jaywalking?
