A strong majority of anti-establishment conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus voted on Wednesday night to support Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin for House speaker, assuring that he will have the votes to secure the post next week and averting a leadership crisis for Republicans.
Mr. Ryan indicated that he was prepared to seize the gavel and try to bring unity to his party, which has been riven over how House leaders exert authority over members. That fight had become so bitter that it forced the resignation of Speaker John A. Boehner and derailed the candidacy of the majority leader, Representative Kevin McCarthy, to replace him.
Im grateful for the support of a supermajority of the House Freedom Caucus, Mr. Ryan said in a statement, referring to the two-thirds vote he received.
The apparent coalescing of support behind Mr. Ryan, 45, comes at a critical moment for Congress, with votes expected to begin as soon as next week over raising the governments borrowing authority, the first of several pressing fiscal matters.

Here’s some good background reading, for you, on Ryan.....
SAVE US FROM PAUL RYAN AND THE KEMP BOYS

The end of the Republican Party.
Oh. You mean those "open" state primaries where Democrats vote for the Republican they want to see on the ballot against their guy? Those elections?
Agreed
Ryan’s lifetime average from Heritage is 63%. Not great, but he was at 74% two sessions ago. As part of leadership, he was obliged to go along with Boehner, who pulled him left. I think he’ll be much more conservative now the Boehner is gone, but we’ll see.
95 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE NOT REAL CONSERVATIVES WHICH MEANS 12.35 OF THE 247 GOP MEMBERS ARE REAL CONSERVATIVES.
THE ‘FREEDOM CAUCUS’ CLAIMS 40 SOME MEMBERS. I’M NOT SURPRISED MOST OF THEM BACK PAUL ‘JACK UP THE NATIONAL DEBT’ RYAN. MOST OF THEM ARE FAKES......
I agree with you on that and I used to support Rothfus.
Keith was supported by the Trump haters from the Club for Growth, the new Rockefeller Republicans.
And don't fool yourselves, one of his conditions is that once he's in, he stays in and can't be kicked out.
Before I went to bed, I counted 3 major newspapers that said that the freedom Caucus backed Ryan, and Breitbart and National Journal that said he didn’t. Upon closer reading, they all really said the same thing, except that the ones that said the caucus didn’t back Ryan considered that a vote of 2/3 of the voting body was NOT baacking. They insisted that the body needed to get to be 4/5 of the voting body before it could be considered backing. I dunno, I think that 2/3 is a pretty good majority. Besides, the people who said that 2/3 was backing allowed that the items where the body differed were minor and would be worked out within committee.
Depends upon how you read it and how Ryan interprets the vote, doesn’t it?
WEAK WEASELS!! Is there ANYONE left with a SPINE on our side?
Want more conservative congressmen? Thats what elections are for!
We thought we did when we voted in a Republican majority House and then Senate.
The Freedom Caucus should be called the Enslavement Caucus.
Ryan has apparently signaled that he will be a continuance of Boehner’s policies as speaker, but that he will tolerate even less dissent.
That belies your opinion that he would be “fair”.
Ryan is an unabashed amnesty promoter.
Lest we forget that the freedom caucus is not all purity and light
Oldie but goodie from Fake News NY Times :)
From the article....
Mr. Ryan said on Tuesday night that he would reluctantly accept the speakership, but only if his Republican colleagues united behind him and agreed to several demands.
These included changes to a procedure for removing the speaker from office that would deprive rebel lawmakers of a potent weapon.
Trump said we’re gonna have to work something out on the dreamers, so it’s all amnesty all the time.
NY Times must have really wanted Ryancare.
