It is crazy. Most people who aren’t marathoners (or who follow the big marathons only to the point of who won) probably don’t know that, I sure didn’t, but you can look it up.
When I think of all the batsh*t crazy things we do with political correctness and such, the fostering of the notion that men and women can compete equally athletically is the weirdest. And you see that notion pushed at a lot of levels. There is something Orwellian about the way that some people actually believe it.
They think the reason women can’t reach the same levels of athleticism is a result of years of ingrained sexism, and not due to simple biology.
And the fact that we are even discussing it is offensive to them.
