LISTEN: Levin blasts G.W. Bush for Attacking Ted Cruz
Conservative Review ^ | October 20, 2015 | CR Wire

Posted on 10/20/2015 7:19:32 AM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

Over the weekend former President George W. Bush lit into Senator Ted Cruz at a private fundraiser for his brother Jeb! Although this was a private event, it appears the Bush campaign made sure that Politico got the story so that it could become a story. CR Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin returned the favor last night to Bush, as he tore into him on his radio show for withholding fire on Obama but attacking Senator Cruz. -

Levin reminded the audience that the Bush family has a long history of attacking principled conservatives. That it was Bush the elder who attacked Reagan, and his policies throughout the 1980 primary campaign for the presidency.

George W. Bush stood silently by, for over seven years...not peeping one word, as POTUS Obama went on his evil destiny to destroy our great country!!! I think GW Bush should shut his mouth and Jeb Bush should withdraw from th 2016 POTUS race. Thy are both going nowhere!!!

It is plain to see. W was trying to set up Cruz by his remarks in hopes that it will bring Cruz more in the spotlight and reduce some of the Trump voters. It is smart politics. I like Cruz and he is the foremost of the candidates except for Trump. My ticket would be Trump/Cruz. If Cruz starts attacking Trump he will be done.

“Cruz gives the same degree of thought as Trump does before he mouths off.”

We know a female in the DC area, she is a conservative, and she labeled Cruz as the beltway Trump.

She didn’t mean it as a slam. She was glad that someone in DC would whack the pretenders without fear of a PC backlash.

Cruz like Trump has a reason for reaching out and smacking those who are supposed to be our allies.

Those smackdowns by Trump have decimated the pretenders in a few weeks. Because those slams have been true and on target.

As nearly as I can tell, everything GW said is according to people who were at the event, paraphrasing, so who knows exactly what he said or meant. It does seem he has a dislike for Cruz, since I don’t recall him ever speaking out against any politician.

This is what was reported.

(“I just don’t like the guy,” Bush said Sunday night, according to conversations with more than half a dozen donors who attended the event...One donor, paraphrasing the former president’s comment in response to a broad question about how he viewed the primary race and the other Republican candidates, said: “He said he found it ‘opportunistic’ that Cruz was sucking up to Trump and just expecting all of his support to come to him in the end,” that donor added...“He said he thought Cruz was going to be a pretty formidable candidate against Jeb, especially in Texas and across the South,” a donor said...George W. Bush’s spokesman. “He does not view Sen. Cruz as Gov. Bush’s most serious rival.”)

Sorry I disagree. if Bush was a “Patriot” he would not have sat in silence as the deliberate destruction of the nation was/is taking place under his nose.

In no way does he deserve that honor and that’s a fact.

“All I needed to know about the Bush family I learned when they took that impeached, sexual predator and all round criminal scum Bill Clinton to their bosom and started calling a son and brother. Ask yourself if you would ever invite that scumbag into your home or fraternize with him in any way”

EXACTLY RIGHT!

I voted for Bush twice and for cruz twice.

I do not like what President Bush’s “alleged” comments are about Cruz.

I think we as conservatives need to realize that the nation is actually becoming much more conservative.

15 years ago, George W. Bush was effective in derailing the Clinton Democrats forever juggernaut with his “compassionate conservatism”

We don’t have to be that coy any longer. Conservative politics is winning. Statist democrats and their allies are becoming more stubborn and shrill but they are losing.

I am glad Cruz is rising above this and not attacking Bush.

I am not going to attack Bush either. He was over attacked as President.

Dont pretend the Media is reporting this because they want to help Cruz. This is designed to hurt all conservatives and Republicans.

The democrats have agreed to give their nomination to Hillary Clinton and cooperate to make her the next President.

This media wants to incite maximum civil war. We don’t have to fight the Bush family. They are not going to win this party in 2016.

Support Cruz and ignore the undue criticism and Media inflaming efforts.

He should also lambaste Georgie for siding with the liberals in condemning profiling of muslims in this country

George does NOTHING to defend himself OR our party for 8 years of relentless attacks by the left, causing massive damage to our party- and He does NOTHING I n the years following his term to condemn our current ‘leader’ and now all of a sudden He’s coming out supporting the left and attacking our ;party? Especially when we have a ‘conservative’ come out and declare the hearings on Hillary are biased?

What the hell is wrong with him? We have enough trouble standing against the left as it is- we do NOT need one of our own feeding on us too-

“Thanks, you just summed up my personal feelings!
Like many on FR, I like GW as a person and a patriot and a decent and moral man. Unfortunately, socially and financially he’s a Liberal as are all the Bushes.

I wish he had not attacked fellow Texan/Republican Cruz in a pitiful, losing effort to help his brothers failing campaign.”

I used to respect Bush for (what I thought) was class for not responding to attacks on him and by being above the fray. I am now slapping myself.

Texans knew this. The phrase was of a yankee—”argyle socks and no hat” paraphrasing the old one “all hat and no cattle” for a dude rancher. Facade and mouth.

The family business. But for real fun take a look at Cecile Richards the neo-socialist Planned Parenthood daughter of former Texas trash dem governor Ann Richards (”poor George, he can’t help it, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth” fame at DNC)real whore and whore daughter those two.

Texas can differentiate and thankfully voted Cruz in.

What does Mark expect? Jeb is George’s brother and blood runs thicker than water with the Bush/Clinton clan.

I wonder if someone advised him to do this? The one person he ever has the cajones to say something about is...Ted Cruz. Weird.

And if he were advised, who is so out of touch that they would think GWB has absolutely any influence on anyone? Even the die hard Freepers have stopped the daily devotional threads.

..........where I’m coming from on the “patriot” comment I made is that I have no question in my mind that he has felt miserably right down to his soul about our troops including both deaths and injuries.

Contrast that to “does not give an fn damn obama!”
